I saw Vacation in the theater with my family in 1983. I thought it was hilarious but my Dad was in tears he was laughing so hard. At age nine I didn't realize exactly why it was so funny to him. He had just found a movie that made him feel "represented " to use today's terminology.

RIP John Candy. Uncle Buck, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Home Alone 1 and 2. That man was a legend

As a kid in the late 70s and early 80s. This movie captured the cross country road trip perfectly. There was always a disaster right around the corner. Bored out of your mind for hours traveling across Kansas\Nebraska\Iowa. And the cars back then were such crap they rarely made the trip without at least one repair. Air travel was so expensive it required driving for most of us. Kids always wanted to fly, parents couldnt afford it. Always had to travel hundreds of miles out of the way to visit some cousin you would never see again. By the 3rd day parents hate each other from the stress Ect ect. John Huges was a genius when it came to these movies. He really captured Americana of the time period.

I watched this movie, unbeknownst to my parents, as a young teenager.😉 It's amazing how different it is when I watched it again 15 years later as a father of two. It's like a completely different movie, but in a good way. I could sympathize with Clark much more as an adult 😂

"We're gonna have so much fun, we'll be whistling Zippity-Doo-Dah out of our assholes!"🤪

"Wow Dad, we must have jumped that rail by like 50 yards." "Nothing to be proud of ... 50 yards..."

I used to rent cars, and when a customer had to settle for one the more rundown models, I'd tell them "You think you hate it now, but wait 'til you drive it."

"National Lampoon's Vacation" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" are (in my opinion) two of the greatest comedies ever!! I watched this one when it first hit Betamax video (yes, I am old too). And I saw Christmas Vacation in the theater with my girlfriend of the time. In both cases my face and side hurt a lot during the movie from so much laughing. Absolutely magnificent!!

The theme park used for Wallyworld is "Magic Mountain" in Valencia California. My brother once drove the parking lot shuttle at Magic Mountain some years back. He told me he got in trouble from Magic mountain, when as he pulled up to the front gate, he'd announce "All out for Wallyworld".

Cop: "Do you know what the penalty for animal cruelty is in this state?"
Clark: "No sir, I don't."
Cop: "Well, it's probably pretty stiff."

About 10 years ago I bought a 85 Ford station wagon. My family thought I was crazy but we had good times. I even had a dog leash on the tailgate, , and human mannequin wrapped up on top to where it brought a laugh at a border patrol inspection stop. Eventually I sold it but my kids will always remember that wagon...*WIN FOR THE DAD*

First roller-coaster I ever rode was the Revolution, 1980 at 12yrs old. I eventually talked both my grandmother's to ride this, they were laughing and screaming having the time of their lives. Good times!!!

Man, I grew up on Vacation. My family had it on a recorded VHS tape with two other movies that nobody watched. I must have seen it at least a hundred times before the age of ten. And when Christmas Vacation came out, it was the very same thing. Watched it daily as a kid. I've always loved Chevy Chase, for as long as I can remember. I even have 7 different Chevy Chase posters(my entire room is wallpapered with original 80's movie posters, so it's not out of place), one is even framed.

Minty is the man! I feel like he would be a great friend, too. And all the stuff he has displayed behind him in his videos, it's like he plucked everything directly from my mental wishlist. Haha

Keep the great videos coming, brother! I always look forward to them.
