How long does it take to clear a green fish pond?

It is its organic load on the system and the lack of plants. As you can see that this pond hasn't got any pond plants. So what's caused this fish pond to go green. It's the amount of fish in there or the number of nutrients in the pond. There is nothing helping mother nature to actually absorb these nutrients or process that available nutrients. This particular pond does not have any rocks and gravel (it basically got a bare liner). So there's not much surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow and break down.

When you've got fish in a garden pond, they will eat mostly the zooplankton. Which eats the blanket weed and other algae. Which eats the algae, so the fish will eat a few algae, but they'll eat all of the zooplankton that feeds on the single-celled algae.

If you didn't have any fish and the balance was perfect. If you had a few plants, you probably wouldn't have any green in your pond. The reason why a fish pond goes green is that the fish are eating the zooplankton and also their dirty fish. So they actually produce a lot of pond waste. So if you feed the pond fish, you're feeding the green pond water as it's also putting in the trash. So that pond waste is not being used. The phosphates or the nitrates caused by the breakdown of the waste feeding the algae is why your pond is green!

Great video as always mark, in my pond i have the filtration and have never had the grren water problem i just get the stringy like algae that forms on the liner it looks a little unsightly ! Is there anything i can do to stop it from happening, have the pond weed and lillies .
