Jordan B. Peterson (born 12 June 1962) is a Canadian professor of psychology, clinical psychologist, YouTube personality, and author. He began to receive widespread attention in the late 2010s for his views on cultural and political issues, often described as conservative.

Born and raised in Alberta, Peterson obtained bachelor's degrees in political science and psychology from the University of Alberta and a PhD in clinical psychology from McGill University. After teaching and research at Harvard University, he returned to Canada in 1998 to permanently join the faculty of psychology at the University of Toronto. In 1999, he published his first book, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief, which became the basis for many of his subsequent lectures. The book combined information from psychology, mythology, religion, literature, philosophy, and neuroscience to analyze systems of belief and meaning.

I think that's why people project their Shadow onto others, so they don't have to face it. It's a form of disassociation..
Like, "I'm not a bad person, you are."

He is absolutely right. I became fully aware of what I was capable of doing by pure accident. Once I recognized it, I felt compelled to act on it. I justified my actions by convincing myself I that I was doing it for the greater good because I was only giving horrible people what they deserved. The more I acted on my impulsive thoughts, the darker they became. The more righteous and empowered I felt. I was like a disease festering, spreading everywhere, into my own family members. I embraced the shawdow. I ultimately learned my lesson when my actions caused one of my own to commit suicide. I now know true regret and real pain.

So true because there is a level of depravity that is present in everyone, which left unchecked can draw us into extremely horrible places.

This is why religion, morality and the rule of law are so vital.

Read the book, "Ordinary Men" it perfectly sums up what he's talking about.

I’ve had the “privilege” of descending to the “dark side” so to speak. I was lucky enough to have people pull me up and stop me so I didn’t go too far. Before that happened, I naively thought that I was a “good person” and would never do anything to purposefully wrong another person. That line of thinking was dead wrong. Now that I know I’m capable of great mayhem, I act accordingly to hopefully avoid such behavior.

It's in us all! Every bad thing you do is like a shovel full of dirt, each one gets you closer to hell.

Some of us have resolved the dark side. And others have good boundaries. You generalize

Been chilling in my darkness since 7 years old. And everytime I came out of the shadow, I ended up with the wrong people. Been back in the darkness and blowing past the limits I sat on myself when I was in my victim mentality.

Is it weird that I somewhat like that? Seeing that dark reflection... in some ways it makes me feel more powerful than I thought and the fact that Jordan said you can "become a monster, but learn to control it./and then use it for good" Makes me somewhat have more respect for human beings

When I did psilocybin I saw a manifestation of darkness above my heart and below my throat it was a guttural being that could cause great harm

I knew the depths of my darkness by the time I was 11.

I very well know I could be a terrible person if I truly wanted to, I could blow up an orphanage and not feel bad about it. I can turn of my emotions like a switch, including anger (which I've kept turn off since I learned how to do this) but I can win any laugh u lose challenge, the only reason I keep my emotions on is because then I sociable, then I react to my environment, without emotion I act like an empty husk, with emotion I'm a sociable dude. Thing is, I've also turned off sadness, but I'm having trouble turning it back on, I mean, I didn't even cry at my cousins funeral.

Just join a women's circle, they've been exploring this for a long as I can remember. Looking at your dark side is not something to fear.

there is dark and light inside of you and they are important parts of you, just as important as day and night . embrace it, then only you will be at true peace.

both of them are capable of causing harm and the potential to heal.

Lol that’s one of the reasons I’ve put the book down. It’s scary as heck to imagine all the implications. It makes me feel powerless and I know that having a knowledge would be better than not having a knowledge but somehow the silly idea of ignorance is so much more comforting than knowing. Sad yeah. It’s on my nightstand I’ve got to pick it up again

I read his blue book on the unconscious mind and not only did I feel the presence of darkness but I also had evil self defeating thoughts scouring into my mind... I never did finish reading. It... I felt there was a spiritual guard at the gates of that book... Who can understand the latter statement.
