Tell her now. She will appreciate it; and you can forgive yourself. She probably was never upset with you in the first place.

I remember this story, I know he was a child but that’s really sad. That’s the kid of thing that’ll stick to him forever, no matter how many times he tells his mom she’s the best or he loves her

NEVER feel ashamed for having help cause it’s always better to have help and do good than to not have help and struggle

The fact that utilizing food stamps is "poor person" behavior yet rich people taking massive subsidies is "good business strategy" pisses me off.

I used to feel embarrassed about needing a food stamp card. Now im just mad that my mother works so hard and so much just for us to need foodstamps. Thats not right. We have ridiculously low rent for where we live and she is the highest paid worker at her job and we still are down to our last dollar every payday.

"What is your biggest regret?"
"Give me a moment. I need my list."

Where was the deadbeat dad at? Was he not giving child support? He just walked away and said screw the kids. Shame on this deadbeat.

FYI for everyone
We all pay into foodstamps.
Never feel guilty for getting back from a program you helped fund.

My mom had to do the same when I was little. Now she works in the medical field. I’m so proud of you mom.

Tell her now. It'll still mean the world to her.

Public assistance is there for a reason. There's no need for embarrassment. But, as kids, we make mistakes. After 6 long months in the hospital, my mom explained to me that the doctor was going to have to amputate her right leg. I will never know why I said the following: "But, I want a real mommy." As soon as I said it, I started apologizing on my knees. My mom was my best friend. She was my every possible thing. I've never forgiven myself fully. I should. I was 7 years old. Facing trauma at that age is weird and surreal. As a Psychotherapist, I now know that. At 7, I just felt like a major AH.

Former cashier here. I only silently judged people who came through and loudly poor shamed people, otherwise I didn’t get paid enough to care.

My biggest regret is not staying with my family for a lot of weekends because I would often go to my friend's house I wish I could go back and stay home with them.

My parents decided to send me to a all girls school when I was 11 that meant leaving my friends from Elementary school like my friend Thomas who I had a small crush on and never told him I remember our last day together I was on the playground with him and I saw my mom and I told her to wait and then I dropped a bombshell on him: I was going to another middle school and we weren’t going to be together and I told him that I’ll always love him and goodbye was the last thing I ever said to him and now I will always regret not telling him what I actually felt in my heart

What's REALLY embarrassing is that someone who's working TWO jobs still can't afford food for her family in the "world's richest country"!
