Does My Cat Love Me?

All February I’ll be talking about love. So, it couldn’t be a better time to ask you this pressing question: Do you know how cats say “I love you”? Because it doesn’t look quite the way most humans think it should...but it sure has plenty to teach us.

My cat will call in the middle of the night and hang up, or drunk text or make me personalized mix tapes.

Whenever i have a blanket over me, my cat always wants to be under the blanket with me. It’s very cute.

I feel my kittles is like a human baby growing up. I rescued her when she showed up at my door crying w/ pus is in her eyes, about 6 wks old. I had no idea how to care for a cat, took her to a vet, got her all fixed up. She used to always sleep on my chest/ back. Now she's getting older.. Doesn't climb on my chest anymore. It feels like when a kid getting older says, "mom no more holding hands at the store, I'm 11 now." Lol! Now she sleeps at the foot of the bed. This video makes me feel a little better. You forgot about your cat following you to the bathroom. My one cat boo will even take that a step further and force himself to use the litter box (which is beside the toilet) and literally go to the bathroom with me 😂

I had a cat when i was younger named Catty O' Fatty, he was basically the "Garfield" comic cat in real life. He REFUSED to let anyone rub his tummy, but me. If anyone else tried this, instant edward scissorpaws. & this was only allowed in the morning before the school bus came. We had a long gravel driveway, & every morning while waiting on the bus. He'd make his slow casual walk down to me, look at me, & just flop on one side. & that was my cue to rub his tummy. When he had his fill, he'd smack my hand & get up & walk slowly back to the house. I miss that orange goof, R.I.P. Catty O' Fatty 💖

The slow blink works I do it all of the time. My cat runs to me with her tail in the air when I do it purring. I love how you explain stuff. Happy Valentine's Day Jackson.

Despite the rules cats are probably best at making us catlovers do what they want us to. If your cat likes their tummy rubbed they will tell you, if they do not...they will let you know too. They also give lovebites. No two cats are exactly the same so they train you into their person.

1-My cat rolls on her back with every intention for me to rub her stomach.
2-My cat follows me from room to room and stays with me in any room I am in.
3-My cat stares at me intently
4-My cat crawls on my lap and lays on my chest.
5-My cat sleeps on a blanket on the foot of my bed every night and goes to sleep when I go to sleep…

And friend of mine told me she never wanted a cat because they were too independent and I told her about my cat and she said well mine is the exception 😂🤗

My cat is actually a stray cat who lived on my back porch for about 3 months. And when I finally let her in, she turned out to be the best pet ever!!! She wasn’t microchipped by any one else but whoever cat she was they trained her very well!!!! I love her so much and wasn’t even looking to have any pets ❤

My mother's cat will literally climb up to her shoulder and snuggle against her neck for a good half hour EVERY morning and night before and after work. He's done it every single day for almost a decade now

"Sam" (2001-2016) was the most devoted but untouchable cat I've ever been companions with. (I've had cats all my life.) As a kitten, just home from the breeder, he loved to sleep on my chest inside my shirt, with his head sticking out at an unbuttoned button. But once he "grew up" he showed he was unable to deal with close touch or lap sitting (he was a "shy cat" from kitten hood, and was never interested in going outside or when a visitor was in the house, he inevitably found a hiding place). At night, he'd sleep on my lower legs (below the knee) beyond reach. I worked at home, and he would spend almost the whole day in my office, sitting in my guest chair or a 'favorite box" (with a foam pad covered with a towel) near my computer. He spent almost the entirety of his life ... just beyond arm's reach. True devotion from a cat.

Knowing my cat loves me means a lot to me. I buy higher-end food, they get regular medical checkups, two cat towers so far and more to come, I play with them every day after work, and I let them take my spot on the bed while I sleep at the side. I do these things because I love them.

I I am constantly, constantly, constantly defending cat behavior to my coworkers. They all 'hate' cats, and I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. Cats are freaking fascinating and wondrous. Well, my coworkers say they are 'dog people.' So am I!! Can't we all just be "animal people'? :). Anyway, this is some sacred knowledge for me, so THANK YOU, Jackson!!

My cats often take up "guard cat" position, sitting in the access point to a room and facing out so that they can stop any threats that may approach. It's so sweet.

I recently got a feral cat to love me. When she first showed up she would grab the chunk of moist food and run away. Then she hung around but would growl at me. So on and so forth until now (a few months later) and I can't get her away from me. :D Not that I mind really. She stays in my fenced in yard all the time. The second I come out the door she is right there. She is always by my feet and I have to walk really slowly now so I don't step on her. She is always rubbing on my legs and I can even pick her up now. I suspect at this point she might have had a home before but if she was born feral then I guess my energy just won her over quickly. I have worked with over 50 feral cats over the years and they all came around to trusting me in their own time. :) - Heidi

When my brother moved back in with me and my mom, my cat Zelda immediately "flopped" (which is what I call it when she suddenly lies down on the floor and shows her belly) in front of him. She missed him so much when he moved out for school (she would often go into his room and just... hang out there, even though he wasn't there) and when I saw her flop in front of him when he came back, my heart just melted. Zelda is just SOOO lovey, and it kinda makes me sad that most people wouldn't realize how lovey she is because they don't pay attention to the body language. She likes to be in the same room with us but she often has her back to us, which would appear cold from a human perspective, but she TRUSTS US enough to have her back to us, to fall asleep around us, to drop her guard. That's what a cat's love is, it's trust.

I never realized how much I really learned from owning cats. Wow. They are gentle yet complex creatures.

I clearly know my cats truly love me. For me cat is easier to understand than any human being.
