My cat is almost 20 years old, and ever since she was a tiny kitten, one of her favorite things has been to perch on my shoulder. When she was very little, whenever I would turn on the water at the kitchen sink, she would come from wherever she was in the house, climb up to my shoulder with her tiny claws in my clothes, and perch like a bird on my shoulder, staring at the miracle of the running water out of the tap. Now that she's elderly, she's content to just come up to me and wave her paws at me until I pick her up and drape her across my shoulder, where she will stick her nose directly in my ear and purr. It is the cutest thing.

I’ve tried the ‘I love you’ eyes. Instead of returning the love, he looked at me, in shock, then smacked me. I guess he doesn’t love me. 🤣🤣🤣

The love you eyes work. My mom's cat was one that never got close to anyone. I did the slow blink twice, turning my head away and slight head bow on the second blink opening my eyes looking away from her. She went from greeting me with a hiss, to rubbing her head against me. This was the first time I pet her in the 10 years I've known her. As she walked away I stopped petting, then she returned for more. This went on for 15ish minutes. It was special.

We just adopted a 9 year old cat and he's been distant and not eating. Tonight when he was about to sleep we asked him if we could pet him and waited for his response. We walked closer and raised our hands and he came to us. He proceeded to walk to the couch and knead our bellies for 5 minutes each, eat the food he hasn't touched since he's been here, and climb the cat tower he hasn't been on.

Oh, how I miss my baby. She passed away a few days ago, she was so loving. Always with me, sitting on my lap, watching tv with me, and her constant kisses. She adopted me. I feel as if I lost my very best friend.

Took my daughter's grumpy cat to the vet. During the exam, the vet pried her lips open. You didn't have to be a vet to see the problem with the red and inflamed gums. Ended up pulling 3 teeth. Changed the cat's personality completely. I felt horrible that it had been allowed to get so bad.

I just gotta say that I finally tried the slow blink to my cat and I am so surprised and happy at his response! He slowly blinked back at me and then came over to me and allowed me to kiss him on his forehead, nudged me, and then he layed down next to me! I adopted my sweet girl Tori almost five years ago now. Local rescue having adoption event at petstore, wasn’t going in to adopt but when I heard her story I knew I had to! She was 4 years old, no one wanted her because she has dust allergies and sneezed a lot. So as soon as I heard that, I knew I was there for a reason and adopted her the next day. When I brought her home, she laid down and flopped right next to me as I was sitting on my bed. For the first year or so, she didn’t sit in my lap, but she would sleep next to me and in her window seat near my bed. But then one day, I was watching the movie Inside Out, and of course I was bawling like a baby at the end. Tori saw me crying and jumped right into my lap and started purring. I was so overjoyed that I cried even more, and she just loafed in my lap and comforted me. 😭💜 now, at our almost 5-year adoptiversary, she lays on my chest whenever I lay down on the couch (me rn as I watch this haha), with her head as close to mine as possible. She is the sweetest baby and I love her so much, snotty nose and all :’D
