Just a little nitpick, but the weights of Tosei Gusoku with heavy configuration in mind tended to he 22-25kg. For O-yoroi, an older style of armor specially designed for mounted combat, then about 22.3kg to 25kg with added kit?

They're already cool wearing the armor, no need to shave

I learned something new this morning about samurai. And I am from Japan.

Actually the hole is for the escape of heat, more like stack effect ventilation, similar to what vents for modern motorcycle helmets are for. By shaving their head, their cap directly interacts with the air, it heats up then rise through the hole.

Out of all the body armors the samurai is the one that has called more attention to my. I just think it looks so cool.

It helped cushion the helmet too, it's called Chomage

I once had a chance to wear a real antique Yoroi in Japan, and that was pretty heavy. It doesn’t really contain lots of metals like western armors, but I don’t think I can even march.

Modern military cadets also shave their heads to prevent lice infestation.

Would lower classes be charged/prosecuted/whatever if they completely copied a Samurai's hair style?

I don’t know if the hole in the helmet is also used to cool the samurai down but the main use of the hole on top of the helmet is for the samurai’s ponytail to go through so that when they are decapitated by their enemy it is easy for the enemy to carry the head with the helmet.

Undisclosed morbid info: the top knot also served as a handle when a samurai was be-headed in combat/war

Remember they were head hunters

Nahh, it was told that the shogun is aging and balding, and to prove that the shogun stays young and powerful and beautiful, they say it's the divine hairstyle. Not because of aging balding

I was always wondering why they were doing that Uncle Ernie haircut.

and then there is Gintama putting dog shit on that samurai's head to cover up their mess in Shogun's hair.

No offense to the samurai but how unlucky can you be to be shot by an arrow that went through the hole of the Kabuto
