If you've never felt soft water, it's weird to get used to because it's almost like you rinsed the soap off your body but it still feels slippery. It's not inherently good or bad, just different. Where I live all well water is soft water.

I live in Los Angeles. Very hard water here! But I’ve noticed the water up on San Francisco is really lovely. It’s from the Hetchy Hetch dam in Yosemite, and it’s really something special.

I like Dr. Dray's no-nonsense, logical, scientific, research-based approach. It's refreshing to hear her speak and think as she speaks.

After I get out of the shower, I do a final rinse on my facial skin. I put distilled water (cheap and mineral free) into a spray bottle. I spray my face until wet, then spray a cotton pad and gently wipe my face. Works great!

Thank you! Yes I’m that person using so much shampoo trying to get lather and then taking forever trying to wash it out of my long hair. This helps! Love your outfit today! 💕💕

I live on the East Coast. All this time I thought I was falling apart. I'm pretty sure my (diagnosed by my primary doctor) contact dermatitis/eczema all this time is just from hard water and taking way too hot of showers. I took a few years but I gradually started using less hot water. Your skincare tips really help me keep my issue in check instead of bugging my already over worked doctor.

I live in FL and I'm constantly suffering with dermatitis somewhere on my chest or face, never realized it could be the water. Thank you so much for this information, totally going to look into these solutions. I really appreciate what you do, thank you!

This is so incredibly helpful - thank you. Was just doing maintenance on my water softener and iron filter today to improve my water.

I live in South America and the water is really hard, after a month you can see the build up in faucets. From an early age I realized bathing would make my skin itchy and have rashes, and product availability is really limited. Switching to baby stuff was really a game changer and my hair and body looks really healthy.

I didn’t even know this was a thing until I moved for a bit from the Midlands of England to London in the southeast and it was dreadful! I’ve never had such bad hair and skin (my KP was at its worse - so, so itchy) and you’d just see all this limescale completely encrusted in the kettle (didn’t realise it was something I needed to check until I noticed bits of white stuff in my tea). The filters you can buy are expensive to replace every few months but definitely worth it when the water is that hard!

Thanks so much for these tips. I have hard water and it definitely can take a toll on skin and hair. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a restful evening. 💖

I would recommend buying a filter for your shower, these don't last much because hard water begins to build up here too but it is good for at least 6 months.

I needed this… I’m from Iceland so I’m used to extremely soft water, I recently moved abroad to a country with hard water and my skin has been struggling so much 😩

I'm so glad you brought up this topic! Do you have any recommendations for conditioners to use with these shampoos or something to moisturize the scalp after using stronger shampoos?
