I see it like vocabulary. The more you know, the better you can express yourself. You can stick to pentatonic, but it's good to know other scales that work.

Learn to drive? Nah, bro. I like to just get in the car and FEEL it. It's FEEL that takes me where I need to go.

*THANK YOU*

Ive been playing for forty years. Theory unlocks your ability to express yourself. It is only the language of music, the musician uses that language.

Saying theory kills feel, is like saying a strong vocabulary, makes it harder to be articulate.

I’ve played guitar for 17 years and never learned a lick of theory, can confirm you are 100% spot on - it is laziness.

Knowing music theory doesn't kill your feel, but practising scales over and over definitely can.

Exactly, a lot of people just can't be arsed learning real stuff like scales which they can transpose all over the guitar neck, they would rather learn a simple visual pattern but they will then never understand why they are stuck in boxed positions, that's why most peoples guitar playing is boring and they sound like everyone else. Listen to Anthony people, check out his onlne course you won't regret it. Keep on rocking 🎸
