After a long research I think the issue is that the R8 are built not that well. I saw a guy in Germany called Bavarian Makeover who took a lot of R8 and R9 fretboards off and the result was that guitars were badly assembled - necks needed a reset and fretboards were just not glued in properly ! Pretty bad for the price. In bolt on guitars the "sticking point" in much more easy to do. Seing your collection I would recommend to get the Bavarian Makeover for one of your Gibbys.
