It's only a temporary fix unless it works.

I prefer " nothing more permanent than a temporary repair"

The key to fixing anything is to have more money in tools than it would cost to just replace said item.

1. Do the easiest thing first
2. Never trust the person who worked on or “fixed” it before you
3. Most problems in this world are man made

"You can't break it any more" is how I learned to fix my motorcycles and other stuff. I crashed it and bent the forks, and being a college student, I didn't have the money to throw at the dealership. I learned how to read the factory service manual and the microfiche, how disassemble it, order just the parts needed, and reassemble it. Nowadays it's the "gets me away from the damn computer" activity.

I fix heavy equipment, definitely using that "wallet over thickness fault code"!

That's perfectly fine job. Only one serious warning - whatever you do, keep harsh solvents like acetone away from any camera/lens. In fact, superglue as well - anything that can evaporate quickly and left irremovable spots on random component, like autofocus encoder ring inside the lens (lens will never autofocus after that, will need to replace whole encoder-related parts). When needed serious gluing - Remove part, superglue it away from the lens, let glue fully cure, then install back.

FYI in that realm, searching “[model] service manual” will have a pretty good chance of giving you proper parts/exploded/wiring/etc docs…good for remembering how many screws are SUPPOSED TO be there!

Back in the day at a full-serve gas station, my buddy Henry went to fill up a customer's blue juice at her request, then tried to hand her what was left, in the still-mostly-full jug. She said "Oh, it's completely empty, go ahead and fill it rjght to the top".... and Henry replied "I did!"

That was the day Henry learned that on some cars, the brake master cylinder can be a white plastic container, similar to the blue-juice tank. 🤦‍♂️

A little percussive maintenance goes a long way

0:40....Can't even tell you fixed it. Masterful work on that cover. I use a lot of that "3D roll off cover maker" myself....way cheaper than the 3D printer and looks better when finished.

In the industry we called that "tempermanent"

Rubbing alcohol/WD-40. Close the lid. Restart. (Silent prayer, grab the nards, look to the heavens)...wait for the green light. Format the SSD, charge the battery. Hand it back to your Lady. Don't answer any questions directly. Subsequent failures are unrelated.

I thought technology was supposed to improve and become more reliable over time, but I’ve been seeing more and more of the wallet thickness out of bounds faults lately.

0:32 I'm thinking: he's gonna tape it.

0:39 I'm dying laughing. I just spat wine all over my kitchen.

My dash lights sometimes don't want to light up when I turn my headlights on. I just smack the top of dash once and it always turns on. The old Honda has a loose connection and always been this way (9 years now). I have replaced so much on it I don't even care to fix something so small if all I have to do is smack it every couple of months.

Sony E62 fault code is based on time on and/or dropped on hard surfaces! Either way planned obsolescence!!

I can't thank you enough for that line all those vids ago. Can't fuck up what is already fucked.
