Gestational Diabetes (GDM) is a leading cause of birth trauama to both moms and babies. GDM is responsible for many extra interventions and procedures both during and after the pregnancy. Both moms and babies can have life-long risks from the mom having GDM during pregnancy. The good news is, you can fix it!

Gestational diabetes is not caused by bad genes or bad luck, it is caused by a bad diet. You can eat in such a way that you nourish both yourself and your baby, and reverse gestational diabetes at the same time. This video will explain how you can do this.

You should add "having multiples" as one of the risk factors of developing gestational diabetes. I was keto up until getting pregnant, then my midwife warned me not to go "too keto, " and to add some carbs back into my diet. Fast forward a few months, and I'm diagnosed with GD. My doctor explained that because I was having twins, I was at a much higher risk because I had two placentas pumping out twice the hormones to mess with my blood sugar. I went back on keto, and did just fine. Yes, I had to monitor my blood sugar four times a day, but it was much better than being put on insulin! A good friend of mine was also pregnant at the same time, and also had GD. Her doctor sent her to a nutritionist who told her to eat lots of whole grains. If I were to eat what she was told to eat, I would have had to be put on inulin!! My friend was smart enough to ignore the advice of her doctor/nutritionist, and went back on a keto diet. Neither of us had to be put on insulin, and both delivered healthy babies!!

Thanks for this video! I am pregnant, 25 weeks, my due date is May 8. I have been eating low carb since New Year's. I just had a glucose test, and I scored a low number for GD. A normal range is 70-129 and I got 82! I will try to stay strong and stay within 75 grams of carbs or less daily.

Thank you for this information! I had GD in my last pregnancy a year ago. Everything turned out well but having it kicked my butt into gear and lead me to the proper human diet (and your channel), IF, and regular exercise. Down 65 pounds, have so much energy for my kids, and in the best shape of my life in my later 30s. Thanks, Doc!

I had this with both my pregnancies. My doctor way back then told me "no doritos or ice cream." I promise I didn't eat either of those, but still had almost 9 pound and almost 11 pound babies! I am so glad education has increased on this topic. Blessed my babies grew up to be wonderful and healthy adults.

Had undiagnosed gd - gained 80 lbs, had exyremely high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, c-section, and a very large baby. After the birth, doc said, "oh, you had gestational diabetes" - thanks a lot, doc! Baby was 'a little blue' and lo b/s. So glad you are presenting this information!

My wife is pregnant and this video will be very helpful! Last time she was pregnant, the dietician wanted her to eat 50 to 60g carbs at breakfast, 15-20g of carb for a snack, then another 50 to 60g of carbs for lunch, another 15-20g of carb for another snack, then finally dinner with 50 to 60g of carbs for dinner. How ridiculous is that? I'm a nurse and I see how that diabetic diet nonsense is obviously controlling diabetes.

My wife got this and started checking blood sugar after every meal until she figured out what would/wouldn't raise it.
She did great and stayed the SAME weight the last 4mo. of pregnancy. 👍

I’m glad you mentioned something about not taking insulin. Now I feel reassured that I am making the right choice even if my doctor is scolding me every time. I will try my best to change my diet even if I only have 1 month left until I give birth. Thank you

Thank you for this wonderful video. I conceived after 3 months on the carnivore diet. I got my cycles back, stopped the grueling workouts, and dropped 15 pounds. I feel so great why would I go back to low-fat/high carb diet as is recommended. The SAD is what made me overweight and infertile in the first place! I am now seven weeks pregnant with no morning sickness, no heart burn, no bloating. Women keep asking me if I feel bad. Not a bit!

I did Keto my fourth pregnancy and it worked very well. My fasting was slightly high so I added one glucose tolerance factor chromium supplement and that helped. I cleared chromium and alpha lipoid acid with my doctor but i ended up dropping the alpha lipoid acid. Myo inositol is also studied for gestational diabetes.

Thank you so much for this information! I was diagnosed at 8 weeks and have been struggling to get my fasting numbers under control even though I’m following their diet but their diet consists of me eating 3 meals, 3 snacks, up to 165 grams of carbs a day, 15 of which I’m supposed to have right before bed. I knew this was wrong i just knew it and no wonder I’m struggling. I will begin the 75 grams and 3 meals immediately and pray for quick results because they have been pressuring me to start medication and I don’t want to have to fight them on this

Everything he said about all the complications was spot on. I was told Keto was dangerous during my last pregnancy and I listened. Ive battled diabetes while pregnant several times but this last one was terrible. I was on 400 units of insulin daily during my pregnancy. We were so sick. Labored early on my own for 4 days before she came. Had 2 super lows during the pregnancy from the massive insulin doses and ended up getting 50% dextrose pushed through to bring us out of it. Her glucose was >10 at birth, quickly declining vitals, blue spells, extended NICU stay. Pre-eclampsia, post partum trauma and bleeding leading to hysterectomy, jaudice in baby, and on and on. One of my daughters experienced a seizure at birth from the fast drop in glucose. She weighed 8.5 lbs 6 weeks early. So much more happened that we fought through. Diabetes is a beast.
