He didn't explain it here, but arbitration is where you go to argue a grievance with your company in front of an arbitrator who gets to decide who's right or wrong. It's legally binding. This is faster, cheaper, and easier than going to court. The problem is that the arbitrator is usually paid for by the company so it's not going to be impartial like going before a judge in court.

And arbitration needs to be regulated to make sure it's actually a fair arbitration and you should be able to sue the arbitrator for unfair treatment.
