Season 04 : British Isles
Episode 12 : The Green Children of Woolpit : England

Children are considered some of the most vulnerable people in society. That’s why they’re usually under the care of an adult guardian of some sort. There are times when children are found out on their own, lost or having suffered some great tragedy. When that happens, we as a society make every attempt to care for those children by either finding their parents or placing them with other adults who are willing to take care of them. Usually, lost children are from the local area and their origin can be traced fairly easily. Sometimes though, the children found are out of this world.

I'll be honest, I wasn't originally going to watch this as I've heard and read this story sooo many times already.

Nonetheless I decided to give it a listen as I always listen to your content.
I have to say, you've done an excellent job of retelling it, Jiles, and I even learned a few details about English history I'd not known before... and I'm a 62 yes old Englishman!
This is probably the best retelling of the story I've heard so far.
So Thanks!

We call the beans 'pea pods'. My dad used to grow them in the garden. Hello from North East England!

This is on my list of "crap to ask God to explain when i die "
Right there with who jack the ripper was, what is up with all the missing 411 people, black dahlia murder, who murdered the Dardeen family, and several other true crime mysteries.

in my childhood aliens were often referred to as "little green men (I guess even other worlds were sexist} and i've always wondered where that came from. it seems perhaps from the book?

There's a town in the Appalachians with families of blue people. There's images of one of them on YouTube. There's clips or videos showing an older bearded gentleman in overalls

This is so interesting, when you consider dolphins in the Amazon river are pink because the main food they eat is pink.
You would believe their skin is green due to something they ate a lot of that was green.
Still a puzzle!

My cousin turned orange for a while when she was a kid, negate all she would eat were carrots and chicken nuggets. It's possible that the green kids were about diet for sure

Too bad so much of this has been lost to history.
