The following story is about the Green Children of Woolpit which reads like a typical English fairytale. The event supposedly happened hundreds of years ago in a time where fact and mythology may have become intermingled. Sometime in the 12th Century, a strange event happened in the village of Woolpit, near Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk in South East England. It was harvest time and the villagers were busy working in the fields. All of a sudden two young children emerged from ditches that had originally been dug to trap wolves. They were also known as wolf pits, which is where the name of their village Woolpit came from. When the two young children, a boy, and a girl, suddenly appeared to the workers, they were shocked to find that their skin had a green tinge and their clothing was not only made from an unusual material but also had a strange colour.

I've been fascinated by this story for years now and I still believe it. Those kids came from somewhere else, like this video says, or maybe it's just poison. Who knows, i guess we'll know if we find anyone else from St. Martin.

What I like about this telling of the story it leaves open the possibility of rational causes and puts the paranormal on the periphery. Well done.

The poisoning does not account for them saying everyone had green skin. In St. Martin... but living underground may have been exposed to arsenic ore and they had developed an immunity to the poison. Their skin or body odor would have smelled similar to garlic.

How could any other explanation be more realistic? They spoke an unidentifiable language, at first, they refused to eat anything other than beans, and the girl herself said they were from a subterranean civilization. Unless she lied and everything was an act, the subterranean civilization was THE realistic explanation.

One thing I don't get about the down-to-Earth theory is that how did the children, if they fled into the woods somehow and come out in the village, end up in the hole if no one saw or heard anyone fall in and they could just recall them simply emerging out of there?

This story IS fascinating. I've actually heard a lot of historic urban legends and folktales about weird objects in Britain, such as the Beast of Bodmin Moor, ground dwelling gnomes, haunted castles and cottages and cryptids especially the Loch Ness Monster. I've also heard of Ley Lines causing supernatural activity that crisscross Britain multiple times and are said to cause rips in time, portals to another realm and strange events to happen.

What I'm trying to say is that these children could be the result of a freak occurrence. Either they're from an unknown, primordial race of subterranean humans that dwell below the surface in this "Saint Martin's Land" and did indeed become lost, or perhaps they came out of a time rupture from another period dating back to the dawn of humanity, possibly the Miocene era, and that the children are lost early homo sapiens. Or maybe Saint Martin's Land is actually another ethereal realm beyond Earth and that there was a rip in between dimensions, which makes the Green Children interdimensional humanoids!

Your diet can give you different colored skin! For instance too much vitamin A can give you an orange tint. However, lve never run across green but then again lron rich greens also can do this!
