Welcome to STEP 9!

Last episode we learned about Keeping Hope Alive by minding the GAP. I'm hopeful that our practices are working well for you and now we are going to learn about self-compassion & self-love at work.

INTRO:
Even though it may not come naturally to many of us we must start becoming more compassionate to ourselves. Consider this a public service announcement. Please. Practice self-love. Self-care. These are not fairy tale ideologies. We are not machines. We are human beings and we are emotional beings who have a primal drive to make sure our needs are met.

Who loves to travel? I do…

Think of the plane security announcement….

Take care of yourself so that you can function more optimal for yourself and others.

Exercise, take stretch breaks. drink water, reduce caffeine… they are all wise choices of self-care.

As for self-compassion… well, I look to one in particular. A beautiful angel in the researcher community named Dr. Kristen Neff. Her research into self-compassion is literally moving people emotionally. Lifting them up and helping them flourish.

Her research is, in my humble opinion, so needed in corporate world, especially in the Technology industry where feeling are not meant to compute.

So how do we tap into self-care and self-compassion to build resilience? Let’s see.

PRACTICES:
Treat yourself like you would your best friend

Take a “YOU” break for 5 minutes

Reflect and identify you you really want by focusing on what you love, not what you fear.
