Can you grow a human bone outside the human body? The answer may soon be yes. Nina Tandon explores the possibility by examining how bones naturally grow inside the body, and illuminating how scientists are hoping to replicate that process in a lab.

This is so magnificent. The fact that science has gone this far and Ted-Ed makes it seem simple is fantastic.

I had an operation last year that used growth factor chemical to recruit my own bone stem cells to grow new bone in my mouth. It succeeded where bone transplant had failed 10 years before, when the technology hadn't made it through trials yet. Science is cool.

Watching this in 2017 makes me tear up a bit because we've collectively progressed so far in human research. It'll be astounding to revisit this video in twenty or even fifty years. Heck, someone watching this very video may be inspired and go on to help crack the case. Thank you for such great and accessible content!

This might be the first time people on the internet use the term free fall instead of the incorrect zero gravity.

It would also be interesting if you made a video about how to grow muscles.

what's interesting here is that her name is Tandon, which sounds like Tendon, which is related to bones!
