How to Build Muscle Without Bulking

Over the past 8 years of consistent weight training I have been able to put on roughly 20lbs of muscle without the excess fat gain and without bulking. Surprisingly, I have not found a lot other videos covering this topic so I figured I'd make a video covering the important factors that helped me build muscle without actually bulking for those that WANT to build a great physique while staying lean or at the very least not increasing body fat.

Ngl it's the first time I've heard him speak instead of just looking at his facial expressions 💀

"What is the rush to reach your dream physique." Well said man, a lot of young lifters like us need to hear this.

Bro I'm around your height & weight, I always had been working out on/off twice a week. But around 6 months ago, after overcoming a health condition I decided to stay consistent, working out around 3-4 days a week and I have to agree the biggest difference comes from consistency! I saw gains I had never seen within 6 months of staying consistent!

Tyler, this is the most truthful and honesty fitness video I've watched in my two years in fitness. I listened to social media and youtube influencers and made the mistake of cutting from the beginning in my fitness journey and as a result jacked up my hormones and metabolism. Yes, I got lean and toned but my health was trash. Im kinda starting over this year eating intuitively and lifting hard consistently and just sticking to the basics. It sounds boring but its the best way to reach our goals. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Bulking and cutting sets you up for a trash relationship with food and your body and this is so much better in the long run. Good habits over time = results.

Hey Tyler, thank you for this video! I've been hitting the gym 7-8 months consistently and I've improved my lifestyle infiintley thanks to staying commited to the gym and my overall health. What you have to say speaks to my gym journey and inspires me 100%. I implemented things slowly by escalating from 3 days to the gym a week to 5 days a week consistently the past 4 months, changing my diet and finally tracking my calories. All these changes were implemented at my own pace and spaced out like I heard what you were saying. Thanks for reinforcing what I am going through at this very moment trying to improve my life!

It is very reassuring to know that I have already been following a lot of your advice! It is refreshing to hear all of this from an experienced lifter with an amazing physique, especially so with someone of a similar height to me! I was worried I would have to work up to like 65-70kg if I wanted to have a physique comparable to yours (I'm about 5 foot 7/8), but your videos have completely changed my perspective on what my weight goals should be. I want to stay at around 66kg for martial arts competitions, and if that also means I can achieve a physique like yours then that's awesome! Subscribed!

Started keeping a spreadsheet. Easy to do since I exercise at home. Just slap on one additional rep onto each exercise every time I run through my entire routine. Very easy to do. Imperceptible but consistent progressive overload. Aim to run through entire routine of 7 types of exercise twice per week. Been doing it now for almost 8 months.

Amazing video! Not many share this ideal when working out. It's always "Get quick big" & "Do this this this this & this..." I started 6 months ago and after plenty of research, I have to consistently explain basically everything in this video to some of my friends, some of which are always trying to have me do the absolute maximum ALL the time. It's always been about building up to a healthier life & routine, and eventually my most optimal goal will be reached. Then after this point, yeah, there might be a bit of a bigger goal.. to chase that pump! At this point I've built up to a healthy habit, my sleep is much better than originally started, etc. But I didn't just START heavy and overkill the fitness journey. And I definitely recommend this path to other friends who are looking to start their fitness journey. Quality & Consistency over anything.

Also like that you touched on diet, because that's a pretty tough topic to research on when you're trying to gain muscle without the bulk/cut cycles. Diet & Weight Gain per month is probably the only thing I somewhat beat myself up on.. but regardless, I know my the habit is already engrained into my weekly schedule and that my consistency is paying off! Thanks for this video! (:

This is awesome I am so happy you made a video on the topic because I do the exact same thing! I feel like we all have an ideal weight and body fat and if you get too heavy even if it’s all muscle it’s not gonna be good for you. I’m 6 ft and about 178 lbs and 12-13% body fat which for me feels perfect. I still get stronger in the gym and still improve my physique too and getting stronger at the same weight is far better because your relative strength goes up.

I love this mindset! I’ve been yo yo dieting between bulking and cutting and it’s gotten me absolutely nowhere so I’m going to try your approach. Please upload more videos!

LOVE your approach.
Your tips in the video are actually exactly what I've been intuitively doing for years, and my physique is very proportionate. I've never let myself bulk with ridiculous fat percentage. Mostly maintain a healthy lifestyle and being tuned to what my body tells me.
It's so relaxing to hear your approach to gains and goals compared to all the hectic crazy trainers who pump your head with crazy sh**.
Thanks!!

Definitely looking forward to seeing you post more long form videos like this one. I’m interested in you talking about body dysmorphia as well. And for sure some gym blogs 🙏 this coming from someone in your program lol

Very solid advice man. Whenever I'm taking to someone about their fitness goals I always push for them to start simple and just be consistent. I just reason that if they've been doing nothing up to this point, the first hurdle is just proving that you can stick with it. Fitness isn't a short term goal to be reached. It's about sustaining it for the rest of your life. Love your channel, keep it up.

Keep it light. Just be consistent first. That's hard enough. Very nicely saidm

Aye on some rs, this is one of most realistic fitness videos I’ve seen. Great job bro, that was done so well and classy and that last part, “once you get to your goal it’s not like you just stop…so what’s the rush” I might have to get that tattooed no joke, very powerful words! Thanks for the reminder and the push 🤝🏾💪🏾
