What's it like being a junior developer?

Oh my goodness I needed this! I study for upwards of 8 hours a day (not exaggerating, broken collarbone - what else do I have to do as I lay around). I often find myself semi-stressed because there’s so much I still can’t do on my own as a junior full stack developer. Currently learning MVC btw.

Thanks for the reminder and the uploads.

Stef, I am getting the idea over and over from your videos that command of basics in any language is critical to my career and that good development of finding answers is essential for quick solutions to getting the job done. Thanks again for a great video. Manny from Puerto Rico

Thank you for clearing this out *The guy who asked youtube question* little funny is that I actually didn't see this video, I only saw "Writing code in dark" video and I wrote you there the bigger elaboration of my thought process in response to what you said.
But after watching this one I feel like I understood you even from the first video and I have no comments to add on this topic everything is crispy clear.
Thank you for sharing your real world knowledge based from personal experience and pulling those beginner developers out of mud! :D

could you put together a comprehensive list of what you consider 'the basics' for a web developer? this would be very helpful to focus my studies.

One thing, which is important, and was entirely omitted here, take notes as you learn, then you can forget. If you don't do this, in a few months time you are going to look for the same solutions over and over again. That's not dev, but waste of time. On the other hand, if you take notes, the only thing you have to remember is, where these notes are. You can be a junior, but if you have good notes, you will do what others might not be able to. The truth is, nobody remembers things. I do not even remember most of basics of my oneliners in PERL or sed, Python or BASH, but I have them nicely arranged and searchable. The key lays in learning but never forgetting, even though the stuff might not be in your head anymore. So keep your hard drive as an extension to your brain natural capacity ... that's what computers are for, to augment humans.

How do I know if I'm ready to apply for a junior developer position? I feel like I have learned a lot but at the same time think there's so much more skills I need to learn more of, like git, regex, when to apply closures etc. etc. It seems never ending, and I always feel like I'm not yet ready. Thanks for the videos
