One word of caution. As someone currently trying to work in Unreal Engine 5 as an animation tool as opposed to a gaming engine, the amount of information you can find to problem solve things is so limiting that every day I think to myself that I should ditch it and just focus on Blender alone. In Blender you'll always be able to find your answer, in Unreal Engine? Good luck, because all the experts in Unreal Engine, are experts at it from the video game side, NOT the sequencer side. And trust me, there is definitely a difference. I've hired two tutors who specialize in Unreal Engine, and sat there after spending $50 an hour to discover that they have no clue how to do the stuff for the sequencer. I'm learning how to get through it all, but man when I was learning Blender it was easier to figure out what I needed. Only reason I stick around is because of how beautiful the worlds you can create are with all the assets they provide lol wish they'd update their documentation.

I guess the answer is: know the strengths of both, use both. They complement each other quite nicely.

Guys... Learn both of them... I mean both are efficient and free :D

I don't start to see the video but Blender is a 3d program and UE5 is a game engine. You can't make assets with UE5 and you can't make games and levels effectively with blender. How can you compare?
(After watching the video I think his comparisons makes sense)

both programs complement each other and if you know how to use both of them then your end products will be better

Despite them doing completely different functions, I say why not use both

Been working on Blender for last 5 years. I see why people like real time rendering of UE 5. With Blender I put things for rendering and watch a movie, take shower and go to sleep. Next day I wake up and rendering still going on. Okay, it's not that slow but Blender rendering is slow for sure. But I don't think UE5 can beat blender in modeling. If I have to choose between Blender and UE5, I will always take blender.

I'm gonna stick to blender for my modelling purposes, but definately Unreal for final video, it's... beautiful..

Bro thanks, unreal engine is extremely superior when it comes to real Time rendering and moreover it hardly crash, it saves your work automatically after like 30 secs, it has a view port which is easier to navigate and control.... But only one problem. community support is not enough for unreal engine. U get stuck that is it, u are done. U have to research on your own for weeks to come over the problem while in blender there are millions of tutorials.

1 year time traveller here. UE5 hands down. Work flow may be different in ue5 but it is definitely not worse than blender and you can buy an asset from the asset store to get studio grade setup. The share fact that render times are removed you can iterate and change things much quicker and with the lack of worry about poly count u can create truly stunning scenes. Efficiency overall more than doubles. Can also higher someone to make particle effect just the way u want them if u lack experience(yes, this is a petty jab at him saying well u can hire for blender).

Blender is 3d asset creation tool like maya, 3ds max, zbrush, mudbox whereas unreal is game engine like unity.

Game engines have built in LOD system in terrain, which reduce polygons automatically when far away from camera. They also have occlusion culling, blackface culling and have baked shadows and so on to enable smooth gameplay

Objects that are far away from camera are replaced by images known as imposters.

They're different in some areas. Try animating in Unreal and let me know how much hair is left in your head. Rendering in unreal puts Blender to shame and makes me feel embarrassed for having tried in the first place. But blender is much more user friendly and has a far better support system

I'm just getting into Unreal really and I do feel like thanks to lumen you can put out an animated short film without needing crazy rendertimea if you're just doing it as a private person. I'm currently working on a more sophisticated Project and the Rendertime I assume with Blender scares me a litte and I try to save on every corner and edge which will cut down the final product.

I think of modelling, texturing and animating the assets in blender but use Unreal to actualy record the footage.

Idk if that's a good and right approach to it. Just makes the most sense to me at my current knowledge level

Unreal is really clunky and the final results are glitchy.

I would use blender for modeling, rigging, animation and would use unreal engine to render and finalize it

You are talking about an product that's in development like you have been using for years. So all your theory is based on hypotheses, you should compare ue 4 vc blender because you can actually use both side by side.

Well, I dont think blender will win but pls remake with UE5 (actual release) and Blender 3.0 (in august 2021)
