Unreal Engine 5 Lumen vs Blender Cycles

I know both of these software are in different categories of rendering.
But for the result, I don't really mind.

The fact that we have reached to a point where takes a couple of second to notice difference between real time and pre render is pretty mind blowing.

UE5 Lumen is primarily designed as a game engine real-time lighting with GI. But it's getting very realistic considering it is in early access stage. At this point, accuracy still goes to Cycles.

dang man, cycles is looking good too, lumen and cycles look crazy good...what a time to be a game dev and be a gamer

The flickering probably means your walls aren't separate objects. Lumen only works properly when you're rendering the outside of objects. It can't cache illumination inside objects.

UE5 Lumen has some glitches. Cycles has the better final results. But of course, we have to take into account that these render engines are meant for different things.

0:11 It's because luman need a few seconds to warm up before the actual scene begins. Don't forget, it's a real time rendering.

I'm eager to test this. Great comparison! We delivered some final frame 4k content to a client recently using UE4 raytracing and they weren't happy. The (experimental) cryptomatte feature also caused some issues. It's so close but so punishing if it's not quite right as there's nowhere to go. Fingers crossed that Lumen solves some of the (now deprecated) RT issues.

Good enough for me to think about switching to UE5, for fast rendering of A request, :- can you compare both cycles, lumen and the SSGI addon available for eevee in blender.

Is Lumen and UE5 Ray Tracing would work on AMD for example Radeon 5600RX card?

A few questions. How much different different are they in difficulty of learning and overall posibilities ? I'm a behinner with Blender as of yet.

Did you add glare to the compositor in blender?. It might give a close result to lumen

Ofcourse Blender/Cycles looks better, its an offline path tracer. UE5/Lumen is realtime, its quite impresive how far we have come in terms of real time tech

how did you import the scene from blender to unreal?

Lumen looks absolutely amazing and renders at lightning speeds... But Unreal in severely LIMITED. Jesus, I've never struggled to get a character to just sit in my life. And volumetric simulations? We're still a ways away from anything good. A few add-ons kind of, and I mean kind of, do the trick but you have to jump through so many hoops just to get it you might as well do your simulations in blender. What I recommend is a solid mix. Animate your characters elsewhere and don't get too attached to the textures lol because, damn, you will have a hell of a time importing those too. But when your scene is configured, FBX those suckers right into Unreal and let the magic happen.
If you're going to use Blender, I HIGHLY recommend K Cycles for 3.0. Speeds up the program and really kicks the quality up quite a few notches... For $36!!
