Eddie’s always seemed so genuine to me, never faking his art. And he’s got a great baritone voice that people say has only gotten better with age. I think he paved the way for other low singers to be successful, too. And these lyrics are deep in the heart. (I need to sing with eyes closed, as well. To connect completely.)

Wow, I've watched so many reactions to this and I've never seen someone that could duplicate that vibrato at 1:14 or so. I wish that one part was louder but I heard it and that was impressive. I'm not sure if you know how unique that is

Eddie is possibly the greatest poet of a generation. He has so many incredible lyrics and such an ability to tell stories and put you in them emotionally. I think it's a contest for first place between him and Maynard.

I consider this performance of Black unplugged to be one of the all time greatest rock performances. Playing unplugged is uncommon for Pearl Jam. They are a high energy, talented hard rock band with some great songs. On stage they are wild, and anything can happen. I think it would be interesting to compare this performance with some of their wild live performances. I've heard many great reactions to this song, and I would say yours was the best. You connected the lyrics to the vocals and music, and you were very informative without getting too technical. Totally awesome reaction. Great rock singers don't have vocal training. They are talented, and have the ability to express their songs using their voices to tell a story. You mentioned long hair so this might be of interest to you. The long hair trend started in 1964 when The Beatles first came to America. Aside from their ground breaking music, people talked about their longer hair which wasn't even that long. Within a few years this became a trend, and younger men's hair got longer and longer. It became as common as buying bananas from a store. By the late 1960's, this spread all over the US and Europe. You would see this on college campus's and anywhere in most cities. This continued in the seventies, and by the 1980's the trend changed. Generally men had shorter hair and a lot of musicians wore their hair in a mullet style. Today it's a lot more common for musicians to have long hair than the average man.

I believe that his creativity of his melodies is more impressive than his singing ability. The vocal melody is so creative. There are a lot of great singers but very few that can create a melody as unique as this is.

There is such a deep catalogue of Pearl Jam songs. They are still putting out records and performing concerts today. A 30+ year career.
