I find this difficult to understand after having heard his first podcast with Sam Harris. It seems like here he is talking about truth in the conventional way, instead of it being something dependent on our survival.

I think the biggest mistake is the depiction of heaven as a place without suffering. Heaven is full of suffering, but it's also full of truth and duty and incredible beauty. Hell is without pain, for a moment, but it sure as hell makes up for it, and it will build until a point where it's completely out of your control.
Ask yourself which world you want to be in, and BE HONEST!

I love this guy, but my only criticism is this: he condemns people for concealing the truth, but here in the UK, one cannot always speak the truth. if i voiced certain ideas and opinions to my colleagues, then I could lose my job, friends and overall livelihood. the western world has now become george orwells 1984. thought crime and the thought police is a real thing. if you speak out of line with the status quo then you are instantly accused of being racist, bigoted, fascist (the normal weaponised words we're all used to hearing now)
