I feel as if Mace Windu was like that teacher in school who is hard on you and holds you to a high standard because they see potential in you and want you to succeed

Mace Windu never hated Anakin. A better description of their relationship was one of student(Anakin) to overly-strict teacher(Mace).

They need to make extended editions, with all the cut footage added

The sad thing is that when Mace is about to kill Palpatine he has utmost faith in Anakin to side with him. He only goes to sense Palpatine’s Shatterpoint. He never even considers trying to sense Anakin’s. In that moment he believes the Chosen One will fulfill his destiny. Unfortunately he hasn’t made it clear that he trusts Anakin as an equal. That small bit of information would possibly stop his death. Both characters were in the wrong during that scene and Palpatine used that to his advantage.

I always viewed Mace relationship towards Anakin not as hate but rather viewing him as a wild animal that appears to be tamed, not hating him but always keeping a thick air of caution around him.

In the prequel novelizations and in Shatterpoint you learn that the tragedy, of many, was Mace Windu believed in and wanted to mentor Annakin for a bit with Obi Wan's blessing. Mace would've been a perfect mentor to Annekin to learn how to control his rage. Sadly the Clone Wars prevented this since all the Jedi were busy fighting. But that was the genius of Darth Siddious' Clone Wars; distract the Jedi so they couldn't train and save Annekin and have Annekin fall to him. I heavily advise everyone read the prequel novalizations because nothing's cut in those book. The fall of Yoda after the battle with Darth Siddious in the sentate tells you all you need to know.

The scene should be viewed in context. Though Obi-Wan was talking about Anakin's issues, Anakin was not there - it were actually Obi-Wan's own doubts and fears that needed reassuring. He was (perhaps with good reason) afraid of leaving Anakin alone to protect Padme, as he felt that his padawan wasn't ready. Yet, he nonetheless had to leave on another assignment. In this position, even if Mace 100% agreed with all of the concerns Obi-Wan gave voice to, admitting as much would have been foolish and counterproductive. Obi-Wan had to believe in his padawan so he could do his own job properly - there really was no other option. So Mace gave him the reassurance he needed.

Have you watched the Clone Wars? There's a few scenes in Boba's revenge arc and the Zillo Beast episode where Mace is shown to be kind and even light- hearted to Anakin to the point where they're joking with each other. Mace want an asshole, just strong-willed and deeply rooted in the Jedi Code.

I think it would make the movie more complete since when Yoda exiled himself near the end of 3, I had to believe it was because he was just being hard on himself for not being stronger because it was so sudden yet still fitting for his character. But with more scenes like this we might get a more relatable view of the guilt Yoda must have felt for all of it. This scene alone makes Mace a complex character too.

If the fans think mace didn’t like Anakin then they’ve never been in a team situation. Greatness has to be earned not granted based on talent

It wasn't the Jedi ALONE that failed Anakin...George Lucas have said on a 60 minutes interview that it was EVERYONE around him that Failed Anakin including Padme. Palpatine (obviously) and in some ways even his mom.

Obi wan~ “you were right. Anakin was too old to start his training”

Also Obi Wan~ “I’ll wait till Lukes almost 20 to start his training. I’ll send those daft Tusken raiders to beat him up and I’ll swoop in and save him and them I’ll commence with the jedi grooming”

George should've fleshed out more Mace and the Jedi Council members. We don't really get much of them, and even then Yoda and Mace dominate those council meetings. Kind of why I like the pacing of The Clone Wars TV show.

mace windu was a father figure for anakin. a real father doesnt doubt their children's potential, they test their children and push them to be better than they are currently. mace windu never doubted anakin could be the chosen one, he could just see the problems in anakin and wanted to make him better. which is something most people fail to see about their own fathers. our fathers push us to make us better and that is usually the reason we resent them because we cant see our own potential from their eyes

There’s a regular scene in the film where Mace says the same thing except Yoda is with them.

He didn’t like Anakin but from what I learned it was actually Yoda who denied Anakin entry into the order initially and Windu actually wanted to let him join.

I think it’s somewhat of a tough love thing because as the clone wars shows us they work together several times pretty well.
