I just don’t understand individuals who put dislikes under Jody’s videos... Why don’t they like it? How can someone dislike such an art?

Jody is all professionalism. You don't have to up with (other video creator's) goofiness, forced humor, or attempts at entertainment. You get practical professional advice and information every time.

When I was doing 1 g carbon pipe I used welding gloves for my TIG root so I didn't have to change gloves for the stick fill and cap. Other welders thought I was crazy not using TIG gloves but it didn't bother me for 1 g. I could still feed the wire. I was on a production line so a little time saving here and there helped the daily total. On the stick cap I would get the slag to peal off so didn't have to stop to remove slag on the restart or finish. Very minimal dressing on the toes. Just enough to distinguish the bead. A105 pipe pz6000 wire and philips 77 rods. I enjoyed doing that all day. I was on the 2" to 4" production line. Sch 40 th sch 80 mostly. Fun times in early 80s here in New Zealand on a big refinery expansion that ran for 3 years. I didn't get the chance to do positional but I didn't care. Manipulator welding suited me. Easy, fun and no stress and punching out nice looking welds.

Very nicely done!!
With WPS's in last few places ive worked, we use 85-90 amps, 1.6mm wire and set up a 3.2mm gap (which obviously pulls in a bit as tacks cool) for stainless roots, keyhole it and keep the keyhole open. Most of the time then swap over to 2.4mm rods for the fill and cap passes. We dont use 3.2mm (1/8") rods at all.
Ive always found using laywire technique and a 2.4mm rod and gap works ok on the top quarters or if rolling a butt, but trying it in position gives a flat root surface on the bottom.

could you make a video about walking the cup and show penetration with the cut and etch test, you would be the first one to do it on YouTube I think.
Stay safe during this hard times.
