At first I thought you were fusion welding with a Tig torch (hey, I've done it). This actually makes _more_ sense than feeding the filler from the side. Nice root technique.

Excuse my ignorance guys but does he have a rod he is feeding up from the bottom that he is melting in? Sorry, I'm a manual machinist, never a welder, but respect the fk out it.
