Most drummers will ignore this exercise because it seems a simple an irrelevant workout. In reality, the secret behind this exercise is the fact of learning to FOLLOW the sticks with our hands and arms instead of lifting them. This is commonly called the Free Stroke exercise, is what is often also called "bouncing a ball". This is what we should be doing also at 260, 280, 300 etc... bpm, and it starts from here!

This is a snippet from the "Coaching Play Along Video" taken from the Arm Motion lesson. Coaching videos are workouts to which you can practice along to that will give you step by step instructions like if we were in the same room practicing together. You can find many of these on my instructional website!

If you are a member or have already purchased this lesson in the past you will have access to the video free of charge.

I get it. Body awareness is essential.

It would be nice if the explanations had a bit more direction.

I don't really understand the cue's like check this or check that. How do I know if my checks are correct? Checking incorrect form with an incorrect understanding of form doesn't correct behaviour in my experience.

Could you do a play through of Lost Soul Hypothalamus? It sounds impossible to play in one go.

Thanks James similar - Tommy igoe says are “ we drumming no we’re bouncing” . I guess you are focused on posture, being relaxed, fulcrum & flowing . If one ticks this boxes do you think the transition in your fulcrum eg more fingers happens anyway ?
