I bought Xiaomi Mi Lightbar with wireless controller, really it changed my evening/night work a lot. One of most valuable desk setup upgrade.

Definitely agree on the use of bias lighting behind your monitor, as well as the monitor screen light itself. Without the bias back lighting, my eyes were getting extremely tired.

Better to put your screen in front of a window and look out from time to time. There are muscles that tension your eyeball to focus short distance, it's better to let them relax for a bit by focusing on "infinite range" every so often.

Installed the BenQ light today and it brings all the goodness and joy mentioned in this video. Massive thanks for this quality of life improvement!

I'm at the stage in my desk setup where I can get a massive upgrade just by tidying up the damn place and making it somewhat liveable. This video showed me that more than a light bar, I need to focus on being tidy 😅

Damn it I'm so bad at resisting electronics purchases.
I watched this for 10s and was like, "Yup, I need a light bar."

I picked one up at Christmas time on a lightening deal. What a great accessory. No glare on the screen and perfectly illuminated desk top.

Florescent ceiling lamps give designers headaches. Oddly enough, the old heat generating quartz floor lamps were fantastic. The light was bounced off the ceiling, and since heat doesn't flicker with the 60Hz input the result was very easy on the eyes. Phones using high speed data were created under these lamps, using HPUX workstations.

I prefer my light bar from Xiaomi because of the wireless controller and the quality of the light itself is very good at all light temperatures and brightness settings. Getting a bias behind the display sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

I got the Quntis light from Amazon. Honeslty shocked at the quality of it for only $40. 2 years later and it’s on pretty much 12 hours a day and still working like a charm

As a photographer who needs more precise color profiles on my monitor for editing, this solution does not seem like a good idea. The top of the screen will be brighter than the bottom of the screen, which could easily cause incorrect adjustments on my editing.

At first I was skeptical as to what purpose this thing serve, but as a person who works at night in a no light environment (personal use case), I would have to stare on my PC for 8 hours a day (excluding non work thingy after shift) and it strains my eyes. I use to use anti-radiation glasses but it only creates reflection and I even have to clean it often.

After getting one for myself (got the "Baseus i-Wok" one), the eye strain was gone and just forgot about it until I got a 2nd monitor and realize the difference it made. The eye strain was so noticeable that I had to immediately order another one.

I'm not sure what your use-case are but if you're like me, you could try one and see the difference yourself or just skip this. 🙂

Note: get one that does the job done, don't point in to the monitor (that's not how that works) as it should not directly hit the monitor.

I have a Momax one, I use it more than my actual desk lamp, so I don’t plug it into my monitor. The lighting is even, and I can change the colour temperature / brightness. And it’s amazing for gaming. The only issue I have is that it does not stay in the same position all the time, but it can be easily rectified.

I use this to light my workshop! On one side there's the stained plastic and on the other side, the LED matrix with no diffusion, completely bare (on some model). If you turn it around, you get way more intensity than anything at this price point and size. It easily replaced a big heavy lamp for my repair desk. I repair anything from laptop, to phones, toasters, roombas, and other small appliances. This is great!! For 20 quids you get the equivalent power of a 100 bucks lamp. Besides you can fix it anywhere you want : on the wall, below your desk, on your monitor (of course), on a wood plank, a piece of metal if it's a magnetic one, etc etc... those light bars are genuinely a brilliant design. I just put mine into a USB power-bar and it doesn't even have an on/off button but I turn my power bar off anyway when I'm done, to avoid potential accidents involving my soldering iron or glue gun overheating. I received mine for free from Amazon (Vine program), but I'll be buying many more! One could realistically, given enough USB ports are available for power, light an entire workshop for small work, repair or restoration with those things. It can also be used for display boxes, or to hide in props for movies! There are tons and tons of uses for those things!

to be honest, you may not even need the monitor screen light. there are ceiling-facing lamps at ikea that will achieve a nice warm room-global lighting similar to this that will cover more then just your desktop. and they are cheaper too, a lot of people will also probably use more then just a desktop for paperwork as well. but the concept is interesting ig

I've just added this to my Amazon Wish List, another accessory I didn't know I needed! 😅

But what if we have a usb camera on top of the monitor? How does one fit both?

Hi at about 1:16 you show an LG monitor on a desk stand. Can you tell me what desk stand that is, please? Many thanks.
