Don’t Buy a 240Hz Gaming Monitor It Will RUIN YOUR LIFE
PC gamers might be better off avoiding 240Hz gaming monitors right now as it could completely ruin their life. Not only are 240Hz gaming monitors incredibly expensive, but with so few 1440p and 4K options on the market you will likely have to make the tough choice between dealing with something that doesn't have good image quality, can't take full advantage of it's refresh rate, or doesn't support HDR.

The TLDR is once you experience 240hz, anything lower feels like shit.

I felt the same thing when I bought my 120hz smartphone. every other screen with less than 120hz seems to be blocky and laggy, but after some weeks, my brain learned to expect 120hz when I look at the phone, and not expect 120hz with other screens, and then I stopped feeling the lag when looking to my 75hz monitor even though my phone was 120hz

this man is talking nonsense often. if you buy a fast car, do you care about not being able to go back to a slow one? no, you dont. yes the improvement in latency isnt as high as 60 to 144 but its alr and there are many good 240 hz monitors

If you're playing games competively and have spare money, then go for 240hz but factor in other variables such as the panel type, resolution etc. 1440p 240hz (280Hz OC) IPS is the sweetspot for me. No worries getting high FPS as 1440p isn't very demanding, with fairly optimised settings.

I have been using a 1440p 144hz monitor which i recently overclocked to 160hz, it actually did have a noticeable effect on my reactability in games and my aim was overall better, I have tried going back to 144hz because i thought "i won't notice a 16 fps difference" and i was never more wrong. I have been hoping to eventually get a 240hz monitor but judging by the fact that frame drops are going to take a massive toll on my gaming I am undecided.

Entire Video summary:
It's difficult/annoying to work with lower refresh rates after working on higher refresh rates.

No need to watch the entire video.

240/360hz will be the standard for gaming monitors in 2023/24. There is 0 reason to fear having to "go back" to a lower refresh rate. Outside of gaming, there is no perceivable difference between 144/240/360hz.

The ips panel I have seems to be fine going down to 120 fps from its base 170. Honestly I probably would be fine sticking to 120hz panels in the future, but ips is where I'll stay at for the foreseeable future.

Finally going to upgrade my PC soon, currently playing on a 60hz, 7ms, 1080p monitor that once was my TV screen. The colours are horrendous too, but so is my entire setup.

Couple things here. First I like to say you're pretty hilarious with good energy I like it. I also would like to state that the G7 240 is a dog to be monitor personally awful monitor to benchmark from. If you're competitive gamer or play FPS games like I do frequently a higher refresh rate is a must because every second counts in competitive playlist. Personally you would not see diminishing returns unless your PC could not handle it and which case you're just trying to push something you don't need to. Nothing wrong with having a 240 hertz monitor a quality monitor and going into the monitor settings and knocking it down to 120 or 144 to better pair with the PC. High refresh rate, if you could push it in for it, is 1000% the way to go for competitive dedicated gamers. If you just coolin you might not need it but if you have the equipment you will not see diminishing returns like that. Enjoyed the Vid!

HZ make difference the higher percentage of them you add, for example 30 to 60 is a 30fps increase, but as it is 2x more, it is so much better, the same way as 240 to 360 doesn't feel as absurd even though it is a 120fps increase because it is actually just a 50% increase.

I've been on a 240 hz TN panel monitor since 2020 but again I'm mostly a multi-player guy. For single player people I wouldn't go above 144hz in fact, I'd strictly game on a 4k TV if I was into those kind of games.

After all of that explanation I really still don’t even know why you think it’s a bad idea to go to 240hz like because the image quality will be worse or something? Idk

I've been gaming on tripple 32" 2K @ 240Hz LG gaming monitors in my sim racing rig since 2020 and absolutely love them. Will definitely upgrade to 4K high refreshrate OLED monitors whenever the 4090Ti is released.
