They’re still young so it’s fixable! I’m glad they caught it at a young age and not later on in life.

If he gets his bachelor's in accounting and 150 credits he could potentially double that salary. He's only 22 he has time. The only thing is the kids 😓 may take up his time. Wish him luck.

I am proud to say that I have a 2008 F-150 Triton Crew Cab truck paid off, I am working as a plumber with a great national company; which means 0 school debt and I am 21 years old. I also plan to save up and gain assets by investing in my first rental property before the age of 25. I feel I am on the right path so far. I have learned a lot from Dave & my mentors. Thanks Dave.

Welcome to middle class America. People CAN get out of this mess but the statistics are against them. We are debt slaves because we are consumer sheep.

Holy chungus, consumerism is both a blessing for the economy, and the opposite to others, unpreparedness was key. I'll recommend financial peace university to my step dad, hopefully he doesn't ignore me this time around... Preparation is key as well, here.
Edit:Another cause;
And direct consequence of lack of discipline

I am assuming this is largely the wife's student debt because there's no way an associates degree in accounting could cost so much, right?
I can't imagine a 2-year degree in accounting costing more than $10k, and even that seem incredibly high.

If the wife was a stay home mom, nothing would have been said, but since she’s willing to work, now she’s being told to get a side hustle! LOL!
