When I used to be like “how can this person get my approval”, I used to be “an annoying person” or “a person who doesn’t like anyone else”, as someone said a lot to me. 😂

I also think it's very respectful not to "lead people on" by acting like you like them when you don't really. It is maybe a bit painful in the no-phase but down the road it is for the better for both of you. This applies to both romantic and platonic relationships. I find it very sad to imagine my friends hanging out with me just to be kind. I want them to want it either way.

This is helpful. I find myself trying to reach out to "friends" who obviously don't care or are too busy to even short reply to me. This frustrates me a lot and I don't want to appear relying on them but then I should also not let it hurt me so bad. Might take a while to get the different mindset for me though.
