What do you think about the VRR? Do you find yourself sensitive to the framerate/refresh rate synchronization? Let me know in the comments!

I currently have both the Ally and the GO, and TBH, I feel most of the games I've played have looked slighly better to be on the Go for the most part. I think a lot of it comes down to personal sensitivity things like this, but I really had to focus on these images to see much of difference and could only notice it in a few spots of these videos (I've NEVER noticed it playing the same game on either model). For most users, I think VRR is overstated as a reason to get one over the other, My advice for most people trying to decide between the two units is this: They are both really solid, I think you will be happy with either one- the differences come down to a matter of personal preference at that point- maybe you like the idea of a bigger screen on the GO, or maybe you like that the Ally because its less bulky- but I personally don't think the inclusion/omission of VRR is a big enough reason to chose one over the other.

I got an ally recently from trading my old steamdeck lcd. Compared to my OLED, the VRR screen of the ally is noticeably smoother even if just watching 60 fps youtube vids on full screen. Neat!

Holy crap, it’s so noticeable when you’re turning. Like the legion backgrounds seems scrambling while rog is steady

YouTube doesn't support variable fps videos so we're actually seeing the variable refresh rate sampled at a fixed 60fps, defeating the purpose. Sorry but we can't see the difference through YouTube.

Is the vrr screen that important I want to get a legion go but the vrr of other handhelds is dragging me down

i think Vrr adds latency by making the image smoother, the response time between my rog ally x and lenovo legion go is almost night and day, playing a game like resident evil 3 which naturally feels lazy on the controller input feels even more lazy on rog ally x, feels like amfm2 is on when playing rog ally x

ok and where is the difference? Am I blind or only certain people see it?

Wow, thanks for the video. I thought I was sensitive to stutters, but apparently I'm not. I can't find any difference when you're panning...wow

thanks for this vid, got a question, is that really just the difference of their screen size when playing such game? i would have expected the lenovo to be bigger significantly, thanks in advance… i have an rog ally x but eyeing the legion go for the size

Really happy I bought Rog ally, the difference is huge, I think it'll make my eyes less tired since currently my eyes get tired fast due to long time on PCs (work)

Edit: I know I have bad English lol

instead of VRR use instead half-refresh v-sync on a 60hz display, it will perfectly v-sync to 30fps/60hz and it is better and smoother than VRR with a 30fps lock on a 60hz display.

You can just lock in FPS on Lenovo and create VRR🤷if your prefer trackpad, bigger screen( makes it less handheld tough)' premium feel buttons, detachable controllers and eGPU support, no SD problems so take ally over Lgo over VRR alone? Nah.
