I want boost mode to work on Red Dead Redemption 2, Bloodborne and Batman Arkham Knight... So that I can play those at 60fps. Will it ever happen? Most likely not.

An actual effective boost mode similar to Xbox's FPS boost would arguably be the biggest selling point for many people. So the fact that they haven't discussed it yet means that's not what it is.

I just wish the PS5 would support AMD Freesync so that it can take full advantage of HDMI 2.0 gaming monitors (which are usually 1080p-1440p).

If people are going to pay $700 + and still be waiting for a patch instead of having boost mode… that’s a no go

If only Microsoft would continue the backwards compatibility program and fps boost feature to maintain competition. Admittedly, PS5 Pro would dominate IF Pro "game boost" becomes a thing in addition to backwards compatibility. The latter may likely be reserved for the PS6, a major selling point but then again possibly no disc drive.

PlayStation already mentioned that boost mode doesn't need developers to step in for it to work. I believe their product manager made the statement in an interview.

Yeah, I do agree that Sony needs to show examples of the auto boost. They only showed games that got pro enhancements by the developers. My take on this is that all depends on if the devs left the window open in the code for uncap fps. Really old games, are probably 30fps locked so it will not work without a patch, but less older games and of course newer games, will probably get a boost

My concern for this mostly comes down to the last gen FPS titles I still play like the Battlefield games. It’s quite unfortunate that it can run at 120fps(although at 900p) on the Xbox Series but not the PS5.

Maybe the boost mode is simply if there is dynamic res then it gets better, if there is unlocked frame rate it gets better. If there is frame rate like RE2 Remake in ray tracing mode it gets better on the Pro. Maybe like it's not something deep.

If boost mode uncapped the framerate that would have been the #1 reason to buy a pro, so I don't see it doing that,
but I'm confused why they even mentioned boost mode with no word on what it actually does.

It doesn't make sense that devs would manually patch over 8, 000 games, so it must be a system wide change.
The PS2 actually had 2 modes for PS1 games, one for more smoother graphics and another for reducing load times.
If either caused any issues in a game you could just switch it off.

Here’s what i’m curious about. From the blog post when the system was revealed:

“ Other enhancements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8, 500 backward compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games. PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in territories supporting this standard. VRR and 8K gaming are also supported.”

Old games getting FPS boosted without getting updates?

Rainbow 6 siege is the only game I’ve seen on PS5 with a frame rate counter and pushing past 120fps, I’d love to see that game stress tested with both consoles

I feel like these questions are like when your teacher says “2+2=4” and the students go “So teacher, do think that 2+2 is equal 4? Because i think 2+2=4”

I thought game boost worked as it did with the PS4 Pro. It helps games to reach and sustain their framerate and dynamic resolution targets. It's going to be interesting on games like Ghostwire Tokyo where the framerate is uncapped, or Elden Ring where the base model struggles to maintain 60 fps. Its nice to have, but not a system selling feature.

If it means that Gran Turismo 7 gets some sort of PSVR2 enhancement on the PS5 pro, it's insta-buy for me.

So alien isolation still 1080p at 30fps on the ps5 pro

Publishers will obviously want us to buy their new games, rather than give us a free 60 FPS boost incentive to play the old stuff, which they’ve already been paid for anyway. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don’t expect too much from PS5 Pro. It can give you 4k 60 fps even 120fps only if developers want to do this. Is the powerful console nowadays has great potential but depends on developers want to take advantage of this.
