It’s worth noting the Series X, or S for that matter, will ONLY support HDR if your monitor/tv accepts a 4K signal. Some 1080p or 1440p screens will accept 4K input and downsample to 1080p, in which case HDR will work. Just giving you guys a heads up because there’s a large number of HDR ready 1080p and 1440p screens out there.

4K is better. There is no reason to buy inferior obsolete monitors. Strange reversal logic dude.

I got a 1440p 165hz monitor a few years ago for $200, before I even owned a PS5. Then after I finally got a PS5 I was bummed out that my monitor doesn’t have hdmi 2.1. Turns out this doesn’t really matter though, since I don’t need 4k 120. I am missing out on VRR, but I don’t need that either. All the games I play run great. Best bang for the buck out there

At 27 inches I find that 4K doesn’t matter much. 1440 P is more than good enough at 27in however, I would still make sure that I get a monitor with quantum dot or 10. Bit color for the best experience

Having a ps5, series X and a gaming pc, i have them all hooked up to the same 27" 4k gaming monitor and use my hdmi switch to bounce between whatever i want to use. I will keep my 4k gaming monitor, thank you very much.

I’m glad you made this video. The breakdown of the monitors involved, resolutions, and even video games that don’t even support certain resolutions or frame rates just yet, I never thought about it at all like that.

Thank you for helping me save some money. I feel like I know what I’m going to do now 🙏🏾

I think I'm going to have to disagree on this one. Here it is 7 months later and I picked up an LG GP95R (equivalent to the GP950) last week for $399 new at Microcenter. It's 27", 4k with HDR, HDMI 2.1, and 144 hz.

You made Valid points but I STILL want the 4k. The M32uc that was mentioned in your video right before this one seems like a good budget option for 4k 144hz at around 500$ which is not too bad if you ask me 🤷🏾‍♂️

Nah. As someone who's had 4k and 1440p monitors I have to disagree with this. Both the Series X and the PS5 output a 4k image and so buying a 1440p monitor is a massive waste of the hardware. You said it yourself, the list of 120hz games on the consoles is limited so buying any monitor that can output 120hz is a waste of money. Get a monitor that matches what the consoles are actually outputting, which is 4k at 60fps for the majority of the games. It's probably cheaper to get a 4k 60hz tv as they have Dolby Vision support, monitors don't. If you're playing from a desk then just get a cheap 4k 60hz monitor.

Great points. Affordability is important and tech prices drop as the tech becomes more widely available. Also your point on most games not doing 4K 120 or even 4k 60 in some cases is important. Starfield, one of the biggest games of the year, is only doing 4k 30 so I guess it kinda shows how challenging it is for devs to ship 4k 60 or 120 games right now even with the latest gen.

That’s true but there are a lot of games that have 4K 60hz so you’d want the 4K for games that are say single player and more fun than competitive so it’s not like it’s a complete no for 4K 120hz

All depends what you want. For me i play story and immersive games not online. So 60fps at 4k with hdr is perfect. Not everyone is a fps nutjob.

Common sense left the video
You can always change resolution while playing Games and for non Gaming work use 4K

I found a 34inch ultrawide monitor from Gigabyte that normally runs between $500-600 for only $150 and I'm using it for my ps5, very satisfying

You're overlooking if people use their consoles to watch multimedia applications in 4k like prime or netflix etc.. also alot of games do support 4k so I think it's better to have than not if you can afford it. I love playing on my gigabyte auros fv43u and it's features just overal are ideal for my PS5

Dear youtube channels. Stop telling people what to do and what not to do.

I feel like this video focused too much on the cost of monitor and value. The main reason I think people or at least me came to this video here was functionality

Just admit this is so PC games can get cheaper deals if console players stop. 😆
