Finally, we have a juicy comparison at the worst possible time😂... it would appear that the Pixel has had a tonne of upgrades but there are oversights... concerning oversights!
01:14 - Main Camera
03:27 - Ultrawide
05:12 - Macro
05:45 - Zoom
07:49 - Hi-res
10:11 - Selfies
13:25 - Portraits
18:21 - Night Mode

Certain things that I omitted from the video coz it was getting too damn long😂...
The pixel can convert regular photos to portrait shots but the edge detection sucks ass harder than even the regular portrait mode.
The enhanced clarity can, in many cases, produce more separation in finer details on the pixel that we notice in night mode.
The pixel's selfies are limited to 8MP despite having a 40MP sensor and I couldn't find a way to get hi-res selfies to save my life.

7:29 Explanation: Xiaomi's periscope camera has a higher focal length (19.4mm vs 17.906mm). Furthermore, in contrast to Pixel 8 Pro/7 Pro, Google always uses analog binning at 10x-30x, if you don't use the 50 megapixel mode, resulting in only 2.4 megapixel dng files at 10x. Therefore, unless Xiaomi has the same issue, the 14 Ultra should offer 217% as many pixels per angle.
Moreover, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has less diffraction due to the larger effective lens diameter (7.76mm vs 6.40), this theoretically gives you 21% more "reach". Another reason might be that Xiaomi uses more machine learning with more fake details than Google as far as I know. Actually, I don't think that Xiaomi has the best algorithm because the Pixel 8 Pro outperformed it, the main reason might be that the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a huge issue as it always uses analog binning at 10x-30x, even in perfect light conditions.

It's not actually strange that the Xiaomi 14 ultra can keep a clearer image at 30x zoom when you look at the lens specs. It's telephoto lens is 120mm 50mp while the Pixel 9 Pro is 113mm 48mp. So while they both claim 5x zoom the Xiaomi is actually 5.2x zoom while the Pixel is 4.9x (compared to the Xiaomis standard camera). The Xiaomi is also a slightly bigger lens compared to the pixel so it should capture slightly more light.

In the lowlight scenario with bikes in 23th minutes, when on crop we see pixel is more sharp on a tree's leaves. Maybe it is because of 14 ultras camera is focused on centre, on bikes itself, and this blur is just natural optical bokeh

I remember last year when Pixel 8 Pro came out and we had Pixel 7 Pro vs Pixel 8 Pro reviews and clearly Pixel 7 Pro has more yellowish tint making photos a bit warmer than 8 Pro.

We then felt some sort of "upgrades". Like "oh the new phone has more neutral white balance. It's not yellowish anymore." I clearly remember this because this is the one general impression I had during last year: Pixel 8 Pro has more neutral white balance.

Then they switched it back from 8 Pro to 9 Pro/XL and added back the slightly yellowish tone to make skin tone warmer. They know if we compare 8 Pro and 9 Pro/XL, then it would feel to us that there's some sort of "upgrades" although if you compare 7 Pro and 9 Pro, pretty sure they will look more similar than 8 Pro to either of them in terms of white balance.

I've noticed this with lots of vendors actually. Sure there have been improvements in terms of zoom details etc over the past few years but other "changes" are just merely illusions.

See this if you don't remember how Pixel 7 Pro images look like.

Notice how 7 Pro has more yellowish tone than 8 Pro.

It's of course not an exact replicate of the 2 year-old model's white balance or tone approach in general, but it's pretty similar. Are we being tricked somehow? Any of you feel the same too?

Great video!
We don't mention enough that the Pixel 9 pro has the exact same main sensor, and 5x zoom sensor... than its previous version the pixel 8 pro. The Xiaomi is in fact in another category, with significantly better sensors.

Could you also do a comparison of the Prixel 9 Pro and the regular Xiaomi 14? Purely based of cam Setup that's slightly more interesting for me (both only one zoom cam). I'm currently on a Pixel 6 Pro and I like the 4x for portraits too much to switch to a 5x so the 3, 2x of the Xiaomis intrigues me.

Google can't make bokeh natural anyway and has problems with object separation. Xiaomi wins again. We all know that portrait shooting is also used a lot.

If you want a camera you should buy a mirrorless. Xiaomi 14 Ultra is not as pliable as Pixel if it is to be a working tool, HyperOS is terrible and so iOSish. As for the magic of photos too much marketing, Xiaomi is really good at it. I have tried the three and the absolute best in photography is Vivo x100 Pro (photos never so sharp and rich in details), then Pixel 9 Pro XL (natural colors, great progress with tele, work to be done on portraits and bokeh), then Xiaomi 14 U, which I've sold after 2 months after being disappointed with the telephoto (magnificent macro instead) and portraits, but especially with the fact that in changing focal lengths during videos it completely lost focus for a few seconds. All the best

Something I learned yesterday was the correct or at least the Chinese pronunciation of Xiaomi. Zow - oh - may.

Thus far I have found it fantastic and the ability to shoot in raw at 50 megapixel is also great.
