Researchers have lost track of Happy Feet, the younger emperor penguin who became an international celebrity after losing his way and winding up in New Zealand. Researchers had glued a GPS transmitter to the Happy Feet's feathers and released the penguin back into the wild. But there has been no transmission since Friday. Happy Feet could have been eaten. Or the device may have simply come off. Happy Feet was also given a microchip similar to those given to pets. If Happy Feet shows up in a penguin colony in the Antarctic, monitoring stations will register the penguin's presence.
