German Mett = Raw Pork. An American tries Mett.(now with German subtitles!)

After asking several of you here and in Reddit for suggestions on what different or strange German food I should try ... Mett was the most recommended!

**Maybe you can recommend something else for me to try? Cakes, candies, meats????

That’s how to eat Mettbrötchen. The only thing I would miss, is a little bit salt.

have eaten Mett for decades. Germany has very high hygiene standards in its meat . So I eat raw pork here with no worries. Something I would NEVER do any where else.

When you eat it - take it directly from the butcher. And eat it at the same day.

Mett is a staple food for the workers, we call it "Maurermarmelade" which translates to "mason's jam".

Fun fact: Germans are also taught the same: Never eat raw pork or chicken. But for some reason we have Mett :)

I'm from Germany and I love Mett. I was actually very impressed by you just going for it. I see a lot of people from different countrys try it but they are always very hesitant and mostly only try a tiny bit of it. I'm glad you liked it. My way of eating it is with butter, salt, pepper and onions on a brötchen. Have a great day!
