Health Watch: Digital Eye Strain

Показать описание
As the pandemic lingered, many found themselves spending a lot more time in front of digital devices, putting more strain on the eyes than ever before. Digital eye strain, also referred to as computer vision syndrome, is a group of eye and vision related problems that result from prolonged use of computers, tablets, cell phones, or other mobile devices. Most digital eye strain symptoms are temporary and will stop once you’re not looking at a screen. Ana Bonaldi, OD, an optometrist at UMass Memorial Eye Center, discusses how to reduce digital eye strain. She stresses the importance of taking proper breaks. This includes using the 20-20-20 rule where it is recommended that you take a 20-second break from a screen to view something 20 feet away every 20 minutes. Also, she touches on the need for regular eye exams to ensure eye glass prescriptions are up to date.
