Help young children (and big kids, too) grow their skills so they can change their behavior, and you can focus on building relationships without punitive force. No punishment doesn't mean NO consequences. Here's what children really need us to do when they can't meet our expectations.

That's a great way to build their self confidence and self esteem, too. You always give such great tips!

Thank you so much for your videos. My 8 yr old has Aspergers and so does my 22 yr old brother. I wish I had seen your videos when my brother was still little. But I’m going to try these strategies with my son who has a lot of emotional outbursts. I think my own visual frustration as well as my own occasional outbursts may be making the situations worse. My biggest concern is that I don’t want my child to get out of control and I want to give him the right tools to help himself control those emotions because the world will not be as patient as Mama.

Thank you so much. My son is almost 2 and I feel the pressure of "the first three years" coming to an end. I am so glad I looked into these topics now because I was on the right track, but there are things I just was not aware of and in a parent without a parent so there's that lack of someone to go to... So these videos have changes my life, and in turn my son and the next babies to come... Thanks so much for dedicating your life to this. You've an active hand in moving the world's movement.

Great stuff, why this doesn't have millions of views is a mystery.

My grand daughter has been having all kinds of behavior issues at school. At home too. Not listening and being defiant. She is 8 years old and extremely smart but she runs out the classroom and ends up sitting with the school Psychologist or principal. She is constantly being sent home. Now my daughter, her mom, is threatening a terrible summer. No pool or park or fun and her birthday - no party. I just am wondering how harmful this can be.

In a classroom setting when students are being unsafe, time out to regulate and cool off is necessary.

I would think depending on the child that timeouts could be an okay situation?
