The safety system in your boiler is your last line of defense, are you sure it works? Jeff Barto, a Boiler University Instructor, talks today about the slow low water cutoff test to confirm that your low cutoff is working.

Running a boiler without water is a certain disaster. The low water cutoff on the boiler makes certain that the water never drops lower than the operating limit without stopping the burner. Watch as Jeff describes what goes into testing the cutoff.

Key Words:
Slow Low Water Cutoff Test
Boiler Safety
Steam Education

Remember the value of your boiler system, maintain it properly and save cost in the future.

Great video, thanks for that, would you be able to do a boiler accumulation test explication as well, if so that'll be great. One last question, would this video also be considered an evaporation test? If not would you be able to do a video of that also thanks

With normal blow down low water cutoff test (as mentioned at 0:30), doesn't the water inside the boiler drop to the same level as in the sight glass when the blow down valve is opened? Trying to understand if there is the same level of risk in creating a low water situation regardless of if conducting blow down low water cutoff test or slow low water cutoff test. Thanks.
