Destiny 2 And Bungie - What The Hell Is Happening?

The past few days have been a rollercoaster for Bungie and its fans. After the launch of Destiny 2: The Final Shape, which received extensive critical acclaim, it seemed things were looking up for the developer following last year's layoffs and the lackluster Lightfall.

Unfortunately, the failure of last year's expansion and Bungie's reported inability to deliver on internal financial targets continues to wreak havoc on the studio. It announced the termination of 220 roles recently, with an additional 155 integrated within Sony. The focus is on Destiny 2 and Marathon, but reports indicate that SIE joint CEO Herment Hulst is now running the studio.

If that weren't enough, rumors claim that Bungie will focus on smaller content packs for Destiny 2. Regardless of its path, there's no denying that hard times are ahead for the studio and its ongoing projects.

Glad I played D1 and stopped when D1 ended. After everything I've heard over the years D2 just doesn't hit the same.

Its all just an excuse to ask for $100-$150 for dlc that was originally only $30 during the peak in their storytelling team. Lore was already convoluted before, but the fun was the speculation. Now, the fun in the lore is the further convolution of it's plot, which makes it markedly not as fun to follow anymore, and just makes it feel like a sequel star wars with more in-your-face cosmic magic.

Value doesn't change because your taste states that its worth giving up more of yourself to access the same fun you had a couple years ago. When you show that you'll pay hand over fist to cope out a couple more hours of it, they'll raise the price, simple as.

I was an avid fan of Destiny but I’m glad community is getting what they deserve. I blame Bungie but those fans were the reason why Bungie was able to get away with half ass work thus far. When new player comes in and complaint about lack of enemy types, MP modes and Maps fans crucify anyone who speak out negatively of the game and tell them to go back where they came from. It baffles me D2 lasted 5-6 years and only managed 26 multiplayer maps when Call of Duty pumps out +30 per series. (Jet pack era had more complex moving with create maps than Destiny). Also zombies actually much more grander than Destinys PvE dungeons or raid.

Yeah maybe instead of getting rid of the talented devs making the game the executives get cut for once! Every gaming failure of the past several years has been bad leadership. WB / suicide squad is another example of leadership not listening or caring even if the share holders are gamers that don't want that crap!

Can someone answer this? Years ago during D2 early years, information came out about D3 already being in the works, in terms of concepts etc etc, now YEARS later, they say it was never in development? how tf does this make any sense, so they just lied?
