Bungie fumbled the ultimate bag. The best possible game, and upper management fumbled it because of greed.

'Now there are a million strike teams'. - As someone who works in corporate, this one sentence tells you everything you need to know. This sentiment shows a Managment class who chases fads and does not have a clear development plan for delivering their product. After a decade, a single successful initiative should not result in a reorganisation of development team structure.

Fellas, if this is the end, it's been an honor to grind with you.

The idea that Pete parsons thought destiny 3 was too big a risk but decided to bet on a bunch of nothing projects and marathon, leading to all these layoffs and financial issues, is laughable. Bungie leadership is a joke.

Aztecross: dude NOBODY is gonna play Destiny on mobile!

Pete Parsons: What? Do you poor people not have phones?

the number one thing that pissed me off about d2 was that it was SO OBVIOUS that our money wasnt going to D2. It was going into several other games, fancy cars, literally anything but D2 which was the ONLY thing keeping their lights on

Don’t want it to end, but if it’s time, it’s been a hell of a 10 years.

All these years and a lot of companies wanting to make a "Destiny Killer" and the Destiny Killer was Bungie itself. ironic

On the third round of lay offs,
Bungie promised to me:
4 annual seasons (wait),
3 yearly episodes (um),
2 content drops (that'll do)
and they sunset the red war campaign...

The reason why the player population is aging is because the new player experience is still hot garbage, four years after the DCV decimated the game.

Bungie saying the current playerbase is too old is like a kick to the face. They farmed us for over a decade, now theyre going after our kids.

Greed killed Bungie. Thanks upper management.

If this doesn't show how out of touch the top of leadership is with Bungie and Destiny, I don't know what will

The reason they want Marathon to succeed is that if they have a successful pvp game like apex or fortnite, its just less expensive to create content for and maintain a purely pvp game. PvE in Destiny is more expensive to make.

i find it crazy wit the "Strike team" comment that the people in charge actually took that feedback and thought "they really like the term 'strike team' lets call every department a strike team"

well remember grasp of avarice? the flavor text for the dungeon? something about “A cautionary tale for adventurers willing to trade their humanity for riches.”? funny how meta that has become

Thing is - what do I play to fill this void? I feel like there are no other games quite like this.

They should've marketed this game to the mature crowd as soon as they recognized the player base was sticking with the game for the long haul. Bring stronger character themes, make those big moments more impactful by making it relatable to the audience, etc. I'm sure this is all things the writers have thought about, especially recently, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were told not to by upper management. Plenty of older gamers would've loved to have dived into Destiny had they ever made it more accessible by giving the game resources it needed

Warframe runs well on everything. DE has a gift for optimizing what is a beautiful, and complex game, on anything that has a microchip in it. It’s pretty impressive.

I wish destiny wasn’t a live service game. Forget seasons. Episodes. Make big dlc. That’s what I want. Not free garbage and small dlcs.
