This is the way I do it, except I don't put my thumb in the thumb hole...I just use 2 fingers...works great for me, people just need to figure out what works for them.

ive found that unless you spend a ton of time in a bowling alley none of these techniques are useful by watching a 1:12 video

He should have made a point on holding the ball with it's center in line with the center of your shoulder.
Practicing with a straight backswing from the start of the delivery will bring best results for consistency and control.
It's all about the stroke of the swing and which way your hand is turned upon release.
