Watch these videos, but more importantly, PRACTICE, you can’t work on your game when the lights come on. I’m in year 8 of bowling ever, 178 year one, 218 year 7 I’m currently at a 223 this year. I have 4 299s and 2 300s, high series of 792. I’m 41, started at 33, doesn’t matter when you start, you have to work to improve. I practice all year. Keep grinding y’all!

I have found out a couple things that really help me. Number one: Mental game. Montra: Just throw strikes the score will take of itself. If I roll strikes I know I will make my avg over and over again. Two: Makeable spares: Hit your spares. If you leave a stone nine or eight.. make them. If you leave the bucket, make it. Leave a ten pin. Hit it. Practice ten pins during your practice warmup. I roll more at the ten pin during practice than I do strike shots. I hit the pocket easily, I don't always hit the ten pin. Practice it. Play lowball when you are at your House practicing. Ten pins kill scores more than any other pin or split.Three: No open frames. Try and keep a clean game. This alone will increase your avg substantionally. Four, score: I never look at the score. Not my score, not my teams score. I don't keep count of how many frames I have bowled even. Somebody will let me know when it's the tenth frame and I have to keep rolling. I can't tell you how much pressure that takes off of me. Not worrying if I have to do something to try and win the game. I just keep rolling until someone tells me game is over. When I practice by myself, I'm always surprised when I do look up and see I'm actually three or four frames into the next game. Just keep rolling. Five... have fun. It's not life or death if you miss a shot. Your family still loves you. You still get your birthday. Your dog still thinks you are the greatest thing on earth. Have fun. Using these rules for me, took me from that 170ish to 215ish bowler. I don't have great revs or speed. Down and in. 285-325 revs, and 16-18mph depending on my angles. Practice ten pins. Then practice more ten pins. Then practice even more ten pins. Thanks guys, great vids.

Glad you posted this. For the 1st time in 25 years I had a 3 game series without a double. Strike..7 pin, strike... 4 pin, 8 pin. Just could not get 2 strikes in a row. Saw things I'll try next Monday.

The biggest thing I see among people who are kinda perma stuck in the 190's is missing easy spares. They just give back too many doubles too frequently. Obviously not all houses and league patterns are equal, but most pretty getable houses don't require you to have a great physical game to average 200. You'll back your way into a look for a window often enough to throw some strikes.

I really enjoyed this video- thank you. Started hot this league season, crashed and burned a few weeks, and then came back with my highest series ever. This gives me a handful of practical tips I can apply this week in practice and at league. Well done!

The mental game is definitely *HUGE.* My best game ever, I wasn't focused on any particular goals and just throwing one shot at a time. I noticed my strikes stringing up but intentionally ignored it. Then, after getting the front eight, someone in the next lane said something about it and I 6-10'd the last two frames, missing on the first attempt to pick it up.

Love this content!! It's so true with being able to throw different shots and the ability and willingness to move from your starting position. Just shot my best league 3 game series of 798, started off pretty straight at 10 with a strong ball and ended up almost in the gutter on the left side by game 3 with the attention star <3

Guys, I’m still technically a rookie/Southmore the most I’ve ever thrown for strikes in a row was born in a row, but I went open bowling recently. I finally got down to only one open frame, which I’ve been having a lot of trouble with open frames for a while I got it down to one about a week ago, which made me happy. The most strikes in a row I’ve ever ever thrown was a handbone one time

I hear what you're saying, control the pocket, select the right ball, use some versatility, keep a positive mind and take a few lessons. Got it!! Hopefully now I can increase my scores. Thanks brad and Kyle I'm going to crush it in league next Monday.

Don't look at the scoreboard. This is absolutely fantastic advice. The less I look at the scoreboard the better I score.

He said I thought you were going to say for sure would be first thing making your spares. Believe makeable spares eyeball 170 180 almost every week and I leave at least 2 to 3 opens every game lol😂 Great video!

I bowled league tonight after watching the video this afternoon. I focused on three things: 1) control the pocket, 2) don't worry about score, and 3) ball choice. I am your target audience, 175 avg bowler. First game I rolled 245. Just like you said, I didn't pay attention to the score. Honestly, my teammate said, nice 5-bagger. I didn't know! Of course, next shot I yanked it a bit, but still made the spare. In the early part of game 2, I switched balls from a Hyroad to a Phaze 2. I thought the Hyroad wasn't coming into the pocket as strongly as it did. I moved in 6 boards from 17 to 23 and made the Phaze 2 work, a little slower, giving it time. Game 2: 187, Game 3: 205, 637 overall. To thank you enough, I will join B&K bowling. See you there.

Spare shooting is huge and splitting the 8-9 on your strike ball. Boom! All the help you need.

I never look at the score while I bowl… The score doesn’t matter, I’m still gonna try my best every single time I go up there so there’s no need to put any of that in my head 😎

Swtiching balls is something I really need to do more of at league. All though its not a huge issue for me as it would be for others. We only have a 2 team league and i'm a lefty so I rarely have anyone challenging my oil so i'm never sure if its just better to adjust or change balls when my ball isn't doing what it normally does.

Great stuff. Would love to see a follow-up video on going from hitting a 200 average to the next level (i.e., scratch bowler).
