“Up her va-hmmmm. Her baby canon. Her front entrance, if you will” had me cackling

As someone from New Zealand I feel that videos like this are important as Polynesian mythology isn't given enough attention being over shadowed by Greek, and Norse mythologies. Makes me smile seeing stuff like this

Mom: "I can't dry my laundry"
Maui: "say no more"

The Death of Maui really does take “I brought you into this world, I can take you back out” to a whole other level.

As a māori, learning these stories since birth, I can confidently say that this guy was accurate 👏

Why did many people said that Maui is fat and overweight? That's exactly how strong Polynesian people look like..
People thought he's fat because they're used to see bodybuilders muscles in most movies and cartoons. Actual strong people look like that.

“Baby canon”, “fun tunnel” ... interesting additions to my vernacular 😂 🤷🏽‍♀️

Growing up in New Zealand, i learned about Maui every year in school until i was maybe 8 years old. we always read those books about him. and i remember that he wasnt nessecarily the strongest in his family but he was the smartest.

If Jon was a lecturer, I would listen to him for DAYS. I mean imagine him reading to his future children.

I don't think Maui's appearance ever struck me as "Fat." He looks like the people i went to school with who did power lifting.

As a Polynesian, it took me a while to realize that Maui’s backstory in Moana was based off of Tahitian mythology

Stoked to hear my Maori people being mentioned, don't stress on the pronunciation you're putting the effort in and that's what matters!

I never thought of Maui as fat, he doesn't look fat he looks bulky and massive from the amount of fat and muscle

Jon, can you do messed up origins of Egyptian and Norse deities?

Maui was great in the film, and knowing his mythology just makes him even more fascinating. Kudos to Disney for taking the time to share Polynesian history, even if there are some areas that weren’t as true to the mythology as others
