Thanks for watching, everyone! And apologies for the late upload! It took a little longer to get this one finished than I expected. 😅 I also want to thank you all for the kind words and wishes since my recent update! I'll have another update for you soon. Until then, just know I love your faces. 💙 Now... back to getting my ass kicked in Black Myth: Wukong...

One thing I love about Black Myth Wukong is that it's essentially a sequel to Journey To The West, it takes place AFTER Wukong goes through the journey and becomes a buddha and focuses on him obtaining true freedom and immortality depending on what ending you get lol

Earlier I was watching a video on the job of a jester and after seeing this, I thought,
"What would happen if Jade Emperor made Sun Wukong jester instead of stable monkey?"
Then imagined Wukong just going around roasting the entire heaven court rather than stealing peaches.

I remember Sun Wukong was angry at being stable boy so he called himself “Great sage equal to heaven” which annoyed the Jade Emperor, after beating all the celestial soldiers the Court basically gave up and said “go ahead call yourself that we won’t give a f*ck anymore”

14:21 Wait a minute. You forgot how Sun Wukong went to Laozi’s alchemy lab ( while drunk from the immortal wine ) and found 5 golden gords of immortality pills in which the Monkey swallowed.

😆"he's almost caught up to Kanye." You killed me with laughter with that one!

I genuinely love the Netflix Monkey King, which I really hope there's going to be a sequel. you also forgot that MK released the horses from the stable after he found out about his position, including the immortality pills. Another fact is that he got kicked out by his old Master, by turning into a tree to showcase his powers in front of the students.

1:58 in, fact, Black Myth Aiming isn't an adaptation at all. Its technically a sequel story taking place AFTER Journey to the West.

Overly Sarcastic Productions is doing an amazing job retelling the journey to the west story too

Buddha defeating wukong wasn't just an illusion, Buddha have achieved Nirvana which is getting rid of life and death itself and becoming one with existence, so Buddha was literally holding all of existence in his right hand, that's why Wukong lost his bet bcs even he couldn't go beyond existence

NO WAY— I was literally searching up if John made a Monkey king video earlier in August because I wanted to see him talk about it... AND NOW HE’S MADE ONE! WOOO! Very exciting

13:35 - Erm, “Great Sage Equal to Heaven” was actually a title that was self-conferred by the sulky Sun Wukong after stint as a lowly stable boy.

Guanyin, the bodhisattva people are usually most familiar with, also appears throughout in Journey to the West. In one point during Journey to the West, Guanyin tricked a child known as Red Boy into sitting on her lotus throne so she can stab Red Boy through his legs.

If you're thinking, "Guanyin, the one all about compassion and mercy?" Yeah, it's that Guanyin.

There’s also Lego Monkie Kid. It’s also a loose adaptation/continuation of JTTW. It’s a good show but needs a better broadcasting service

I'm super happy to see this- I have the first JOTW book. And I'm a little surprised this myth didn't show up earlier, but I'm glad it's here.
