Add this straight arm pulldown exercise to your back workout!

You will start by grabbing the wide bar from the top pulley of a pulldown machine and using a wider than shoulder-width pronated (palms down) grip. Step backwards two feet or so.
Bend your torso forward at the waist by around 30-degrees with your arms fully extended in front of you and a slight bend at the elbows. If your arms are not fully extended then you need to step a bit more backwards until they are. Once your arms are fully extended and your torso is slightly bent at the waist, tighten the lats and then you are ready to begin.
While keeping the arms straight, pull the bar down by contracting the lats until your hands are next to the side of the thighs. Breathe out as you perform this step.
While keeping the arms straight, go back to the starting position while breathing in.
Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.
Variations: Can also be performed with a shorter shoulder-width straight bar or with a rope attachment.

A little misleading that the demo guy is standing completely straight up when the commentary says lean 30 degrees but a good short video nonetheless

I used this when I was having biceps problems. Good alternative to Standard Pulldowns.

I've been doing this with a bar that allows for hammer grip for a little while now and I have noticed huge improvement in lat development compared to original lat pulldown. I think it's because my lats now have to pull all of the weight unassisted by biceps (triceps only stabilise your form)

I prefer lighter weight and high rep with these exercises to really target the smaller teres muscles. Great exercise to include in any back routine. I also use the rope not bar

Try pulling as if you're doing a straight arm pulldown. That combined with explosive momentum will help you get to the top

I find this exercise hits the back of the arms, which is good as it feels this part of the arm doesn't normally get hit, always thought the triceps pull down would deal with back of arms. Or am I doing this wrong and it should be hitting the back more?
