What does strength sound like?
Isn't the body the ultimate instrument?
This is the sound of an athlete.
This is the body singing.

24 year old mezzo-soprano Laura Wright - one of the biggest selling classical artists in the UK this decade - unveils her music for latest EP, The Sound Of Strength.

Laura is a one of a kind artist; she fuses music and sport like no other. Her strength in voice mirrors her strength in body. As a regular fixture at the biggest sporting events in the UK (she is also the England Rugby team's first ever official anthem singer), the concept behind The Sound Of Strength is that the body is the ultimate instrument. The similarities between classically trained singers and athletes are much more aligned than one would first think.

The music video for lead single, Barber's Agnus Dei / The Sound Of Strength, challenges classical music to its very core. Shot with a brutalist background in London’s renowned Peckham multi-story car park (which has also been home to performances by a 65 piece classical orchestra), the story reflects and references Fight Club, 1984 and The Hunger Games. The track is drenched in driving beats that were arranged and co-produced by Laura herself.

Laura comments, "To bring together sport and music, my two passions in life, is something I'm so excited about and was the drive behind my EP. Classical music has long been about triumph, beauty, drama and strength ... it's uplifting and emotional - just like sport and I wanted to create something that makes you feel like you can achieve your dreams, music that makes you feel like a superhero."

Laura is seen at her very essence; fusing the strength of her vocal with the strength of her body. Supported by gymnasts, free runners and fencers, the video is both empowering and sensual with a modern cinematic feel. The video also sees an excerpt of Rudyard Kipling's iconic poem "If" read by Fred Schofield (credits include Gladiator and Pirates Of The Caribbean), only adding to the tension, cementing Laura's position as the most exciting classical artist to breakthrough this decade.

Wonderful! This is the way to break down stodgy barriers, like a log jam, in classical music. Creative spirit. Kudos and my respect to Ms. Wright for having the strength to bust down the walls, climb the walls, whatever it takes. Brilliant, and a brilliant voice and variation. Long may we hear your voice; long may you express your art.
