I did like the following.
I perceived 4=x/y instead of perceiving x/y=4.

The main expression is 24x/ny= 4
So the main expression can be written or perceived as 24/n * x/y = instead of 4 write x/y. Since x/y is present in both LHS and RHS, cancel out x/y from both sides.

Now we are left with only 24/n. Therefore, n is equal to 24.. Could you please tell if this method is correct or not?
