The fact that they even use a calculator for these supposedly “hardest” question makes me laugh in asian.

SAT is not a test of your knowledge... It is test of your patience

If this is the hardest SAT question then I am gonna score a good 1600😂

Using exterior angle property, directly we get x = 74 + 23 = 97

Explaination:
Now you can see there is a linear pair where one angle is 106⁰ now we subtract 106⁰ from 180⁰ to get the other angle which is 74⁰( just think s as an horizontal line and t as the vertical line which makes 2 angles between them forming a linear pair) now x⁰ is an exterior angle so 74⁰ is inside the triangle or some sort of shape so using the property the sum of two interior angles a.k.a 74⁰ and 23⁰ which are inside the triangle are equal to x⁰ that is 74⁰ + 23⁰ = 97⁰.

This was extremely easy when I did it in my PSAT yesterday, but some other questions gave me some trouble. No calculator is taking a toll on my grade so I'm practicing at the moment for my first SAT tomorrow. Wish me luck!

You can do this instead::
106=(180-x)+23
83=180-x
x=97

Two interior angles add up to one exterior angle

Increased one step actually
Step i) sum of linear angles is equal to 180°, so the angle aligned to 106° on straight line would be 74°
Step ii) Use the exterior angle property, answer is there

Hardly it takes 5 seconds

You can also use EXTERIOR ANGLE Property OF TRINAGLE
THAT IS
SUM OF TWO INTERIOR ANGLE OF TRIANGLE IS EQUAL TO THE OPPOSITE EXTERIOR ANGLE

You could also apply the theorem for exterior angles. Let x be an unknown angle and as an exterior angle, 180-y. To find y, assume that y is a remote interior angle to 106°. Because of this, 106° is actually y+23°. We know that y is 83° so x=180°-83°=97°.

Exrerior angle of triangle = sum of e mm remote two interior 74+23

Also theres the exterior angle property that would prove this right. Cause the exterior angle is equal to the sum of interior opposite angles
